Head parts shopping list

Another thread got me thinking about buying myself a Christmas present this year. (I didn't want to hijack the other thread)

I'm thinking of the Chevrolet SB Iron Vortec Heads to put on my gen1 350

I know I will need:

self aligning rockers
Vortec intake manifold and bolts
gasket set
new valve covers and bolts

Anything else?
Can I use by old head bolts, push rods?

Right now I have a totally stock engine with a low mileage rebuild. Just sat for a lot years and I know valve seal o-rings are bad.

Yes you can reuse your head bolts and pushrods.

Re: Head parts shopping list

I'm curious and have no intention of starting any kind of argument, but why are you limiting yourself to Vortec heads?

Re: Head parts shopping list

New rocker nuts. Stock ones are crimp type and not made to be reusable. Get poly lock type while you are at it.

Well, without getting nosey, and I won't ask what your budget is, but you can buy some decent aluminum heads too. I bought some of the Jegs house brand heads and have been really happy with them.
