Not sure how much clearance would be needed for the MAF and snorkel along with the fan . Had 7" decided to move the engine back but 2.5"
Perfect fit for a chevy valve pan t fit in the firewall


Tired .....done for the day.
So far I am really happy with how this build is going.
Little hiccup with the suspension and the roll pan and some of the patch panels fought us, but if it was easy everyone would be doing it

I just read your thread. Progress is looking good.

I just installed that same TCI leaf kit in my truck this weekend. I know the truck is slightly lighter in the back compared to the burb but, like you, I was a little concerned with only 2 leafs. So far it looks good. I also put in a mustang II kit. I went with Fatman and I was pretty happy with the install of it.

You are a little bit ahead of me so I hope you don't mind me asking some questions since ours set ups are similar. I have a 2000 5.3 LS and the dirty dingo street rod adjustable mounts http://dirtydingo.com/store/index.ph...=1_206_305_321

You said your mounts were DD too, were they the same ones?

What LS engine accessory brackets are you running? I was looking at the accessory drive and it didn't look like f-body, corvette, or truck. If it has the same spacing as the truck I'm curious about where you put your mounts, did you have to trim the mounts, and what set of holes worked for you.

I had another question. So you had 7 inches of clearance to the radiator before you slid it back? When you have the 7 inches of clearance was that before you had to cut the firewall? I'm hoping to avoid cutting my firewall so that's why I am so curious about your accessories, clearances, and engine mounts.

Yes they are the same mounts from DD. As far as what holes, I am not sure yet. I have not finished welding until I get my headers sometime this week I hope.
The brackets are for a truck from what I have been told by the guy who built the motor.
7" before cutting the firewall.. Now I am a little over 9.25"

Nice work. It is better to have more than enough room up front than not enough. That space seems to get eaten up fast when to add accessories a fan as well as an air intake.

I’m still waiting on patch panels. 1 of the 3 I ordered is on back order. I have been working on my 48 fixing some things that bugged me.

Thanks for chiming in on my info gathering thread and thanks for answering my questions above.

When you put in your TCI leaf kit what pinion angle did you go with. I read 3 degrees a lot and the kits called for 5 degrees in the instructions. I just went with 4 degrees but I'd like to hear that you did. Also what are you running for a fuel tank and pump?

I don't have the rear welded in yet.... But it will be 4 degrees.
Fuel tank I have is steel goes behind the rear between the rail from brothers $240 I think. Running external pump from MSD.....have the same thing on my truck and it runs great and I can't hear it

Got it on the ground...about as low as I want to go and stay away from bags. 4" off the ground. Rear needs dropped about 2" easy to do with blocks

I've never used this bracket, just something I found. On Alan Grove site it has dimensions, etc., I'm not sure which frames it would clear, sorry...Jim

Not on the stock frame rails...
Oldman thanks... got one of these and it does not fit. Need another 1.25"

Wont fire it for a while....there is ZERO wiring n it as it sits. Probably will not do any wiring or starting until after paint.
Late summer or early Fall would be my guess

I have that A/C bracket with a Sanden compressor on an LS motor in my 53. It did require a notch installed in the (stock) frame. Nothing crazy. Here's a pic, although the notch hasn't been finished up yet in this picture.

I don't know what your budget is but Vintage air has a front runner system that works really well it mounts every thing up and tight to the motor. But its not cheap but you get everything for the front of the motor you might check it out.

Blew my budget but I bought front runner system.
Not vintage but something similar for less than VA.
Torchlight that looks good but to get what I needed with the motor being off center by 3/4" I would had to have made drastic changes to the frame and also the cross member with what I have
