my rant

i needed to have front and rear glass reinstalled in my 67 after some cab work. the glass guy quoted my 80 to do the front and rear.... i decided to do it myself. rear glass went in like a breeze, front seemed to be going the same. got the last corner in and....CRACK! CRAP! cracked it from the top straight to the bottom on the left side. looks like im going to need another front glass.....

$80 for both pieces of glass...damn that's a good deal!!! Oh well, now you can use your $80 you saved and go buy a new glass Personally I'll get somebody to remove/install my glass...I have better things to do lol Glass isn't one of my favourite items to do.

Re: my rant

Amazing how cheap everything is in the states lol I wish I could get glass for $25 I have a decent sized chip in my glass now. Hoping it doesn't crack though. I hate big rocks on the highway. I thought my window was going to break when it hit.

Re: my rant

I do glass repair and installs for a living. my advise would be never to start at a corner and never end at a corner. always start on the sides and end on the sides. easiest solution is using alot of soap and water. also never use anything other then plastic and a rope. take time on the windshield.

also as far as repairing a crack. i do not advise repairing any cracks longer then 1/2" in length, It maybe a temp fix but it will always crack worse then before, I do not know any glass company that would allow their employee to repair as such due to there are safety laws glass companies do have to follow by.

also yes no glass company that I know of will Guarantee the install of used glass provided by the customer. It would just be a loss out of their own pocket lol

Yes rock chip repair but there is a limit to what they are able to be fixed. when it comes to a spider crack off a windshield there is only so much that can be fixed. if the spider crack is usually more then 1" It most likely will not be fixed.

Most companies limit it to 1/2" due to safety but depends on the company
