Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

I removed and reinstalled the ignition switch, which had come loose, making it hard to start (I had to reach under and hold it still to turn the key). I also did a little lubing, so everything works much more betterer.

Today I rust treated (NAPA Permatex) my windshield washer bottle bracket, wire wheeled the windshield squirter ends (Permatexed those too), and started doing the same to the tailgate chains.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

I put my new seat belts in today. I've had them for over a year, but now they're in. Also fixed a couple broken springs in my drivers side seat. Now I don't feel like I'm sitting in a padded donut no more. Next, it's on to the dash......

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Got it started for the first time in months. I'm at a point where I'm seriously considering selling it. Got several other issues which are taking all my resources, and I don't see an end in sight. I am not the type to let a vehicle sit for too long, and mine has been sitting in my yard since Sept. Going to give it a few days and see if I can justify keeping it. If I can't I'll post it in the for sale section.

Not today, but over the weekend, I fixed a transmission leak at the speedo gear housing. The seal was leaking so I replaced it and the o-ring on the housing. Also picked and ground out the 40-plus-year-old drip rail sealer so I can apply new sealer to avoid future leaks.

It wasn't today but over several days in the past month. New coils all the way around(someone heated them in the past, they were in bad shape). New shocks all the way around(still had the factory shocks on it. 44 years old). New brakes all the way around with new drums and wheel cylinders on the rear. It sure rides nice and stops good now.

I was able to get the squirters for the windshield painted. I just went with black although they were probably originally ochre.

Thumbs up Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

I put a 11" booster back on the truck. Man it make a world of differance in stopping!
The 8" chrome looked better but it didn't function worth a crap!

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

So those new-looking small ones aren't any good?

I think my brake booster came off some old junkyard Nova.

Today I used NAPA rust treatment on the firewall side of my heater box flapper, put a couple more coats of paint onto my tailgate chains, and I decided NOT to remove the flapper from the heater box. Members also told me how to clean up the outside of the box and to clear coat it.
