Chassis swap

I have a 68 GMC 3/4 ton that I want to switch to a half ton frame. Recently purchased a 71 half ton rolling chassis. What are some differences that I may encounter between the two? They are both long bed wheel base. Any information would be helpful. Thanks

Basically the only difference will be the rear cab mounts on the frame. (just use the 1/2 ton body mount cushion set) and the front brake lines from the booster to the frame. (because the '71 frame will have the disk brakes on the front) There will be a few pieces of smaller stuff, like the combination valve on the booster, but just ask questions as you progress on it.

Re: Chassis swap

On my ‘68 I bent the original brake lines to the 72 booster/master and run adapters to fit the lines....Incase you don’t have the lines from the chassis. LMK if you need a hand I’m close and would also be interested in the 3/4 T frame if you’re not keeping it.

It wouldn't make any difference as long as the whole frame is swapped....

Re: Chassis swap

Would the front cross members interchange so I could keep the body and chassis together? And save myself days of work while still getting the half ton ride and disc brakes? The leaf springs would swap out easily with the axles I am guessing

Awesome! Should save days worth of work, and give us more driving time.

Re: Chassis swap

Reason why i ask cus no pics. Now if he had a 3/4 ton with ladder bar and come to like the car riding comfortably there is a big difference My 1965 3/4 ton compared to me 1972 that had leaf springs my 1965 coil springs rode like a car even when it was loaded the leaf spring is a little harsher. But if you never had coil spring you would never know
