97 Tahoe body mounts

Hello all, The rear driver side body mount is making noise. I tried to tighten it up, but I think the nut on the inside is spinning. Is there supposed to be a captured nut attached to the body?

Is there a way to access it from the inside of the truck?

Thanks

There isn't a nut that you can access, it's more like a welded nut on the mount. The weld could be broken or the bolt stripped. You should be able to see it above the fuel tank.

Re: 97 Tahoe body mounts

Thanks for the reply Mike.
when I turn the bolt, it sounds like something spinning on the other end. There is a wire harness that goes thru a hole next to the mount. I may be able to open that a little more and see inside.

You should be able to get to the nut from the inside but you'll have to fold the back seat down and pull the carpet back. It looks to be right in front of the wheel well on the 4dr versions.
