Project: Recycle

I thought I would create a build thread since I have enough parts & should have a rolling chassis pretty soon. I picked up this 64 a few weeks after the '08 FtWorth TX Good-Guys show.

I really love Dino's & C10Addict's rides & drooled over several different 64-66 BBW trucks @ that GG's show. I'm always surfing through Craigslist ad's & came across this truck (I've been wanting another since the one I had in high school). There were no pics w/the ad so I figured it would be a turd but it's actually in decent shape. I really didn't need another truck but . ..... Well, you guys know how it is ......

So the list of acquired parts goes something like this:
Porterbuilt Dropmember
ART a-arms w/Slam RE-7's & Bilsteins
ECE Truck arm C.member
Porterbuilt Dropped Truckarms w/RE-6's & Bilsteins
Porterbuilt Panhard-bar
Ride Tech manual fill air mgt system (after all, 60's trucks had primitive options )

The stuff I did:
68 LWB to 64 SWB frame conversion (includes 3" rear frame Z that's plated & boxed)
Built & boxed c-sections
Relocated rear axle C/L back 1.5"
Fabbed adjustable Panhard-bar bracket
Fabbed/modified upper shock c.member
Modified PHB triangulation c.member
Modified/relocated cab mounts
Fabbed front bumper adapter 'brackets'
Blazer gas tank (relocated between the rails vs. under)
Raised bed floor

Motorvation:
350 from N2TRUX's 77 w/rebuilt heads, mild CC hyd cam, lifters, timing set, oil pump, & intake
Retro valve covers, air cleaner, & exhaust
700r4 w/a 2200 convertor
5-lug front disc conversion w/master cyl firewall bracket (from Captainfab)
68 12-bolt 3.73's & Moser axles

Acquired 'seasoned' parts:
15” steelies
Buddy Buckets (from Superchevy)
van tilt
Camaro steering wheel (from Lolife99)
Radio delete plate & front frame horn (from LilRed66)
High-hump trans tunnel cover (from Joe231)
6x-72 GM powder-coated accessory brackets (from Primer_69 & TxFirefighter)

Still to go:
BBW conversion
Interior cab paint
Vintage Air
Modify front/rear wheels tubs

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.
