Mufflers

My Jimmy needs a new muffler this summer.
A single Magnaflow may be nice. I noticed the pipe goes down from 3" to 2.5" or 2". I can't remember if the down size is infront or behind the catalyst converter. I may go 3" all the way out.

What do you have on your 4.3 motors? Anyone have a suggestion?

A new highflow muffler is my final step to pick a little more MPG. The Jimmy already has a nice throaty sound at idle and off idle.

Re: Mufflers

I bought a Gibson aftercat system about 5 years ago for my 98 Sierra w/ 305. This is the same system for this truck if it had a V6 (the 305 and 4.3 share the same exhaust on the 96-98 full size trucks). It was made of "aluminized' pipe. Fit well, still sounds good and price was right from Summit Racing.

Re: Mufflers

That does sound good...its got the V6 sound, but it doesnt at the same time, IMO. Nice looking old S10, Prostreet. I dont think I've ever seen one that old in that good of shape.

Re: Mufflers

I just welded on a Flowmaster on my91 2.8 Didn't change the sound that much, i am guessing the cat is muffling the exhaust some. So that is next to go.

Re: Mufflers

THANKS for the videos! I'm leaning toward a single magnaflow. The Aerochamber soulnds like my dual Magnaflows on my 83 full size pickup.
