Re: 77 yellow gmc swb

Thanks guys , really it helps ! I worked on getting the front light wiring harness tucked into the fender and ran in front of the bottom of the core support instead of across the top, it looks like I'll have to add about 12" to the main plug end to get it to reach

Re: 77 yellow gmc swb

x2.... its def. worth it man. thats how i ran mine but i was lucky the painless kit has tons of extra length. after you get the wiring in order all you will need to set it off is to make a fuse box cover(or just get one from Jeff)

Re: 77 yellow gmc swb

I wondered if they gave you extra with the painless kit ,I still may update to the painless wiring before the end , I wanted to make a cover but I didnt want to make Jeff mad for stealing his idea , the only thing I would do different is leave the welds on to match everything else , I also have some nice rubber inserts leftover from trailer junction boxes ,I thought they would help make a clean install,

Re: 77 yellow gmc swb

Thanks Jeff , glad ya like my junk ! not sure what you mean about a gmc gate ? all this talk about the cover I made a moch up from plastic today after I got the light harness installed, I made it a lil different put a step in the top , to clear the wiper motor , I'm gonna make mounting tabs off the back edges ,drill out the tapped screw holes in the firewall and just mount the fuse box and the cover with the same screws, also made it a lil longer I'm gonna drill a hole just below the fuse box to run all the fan and air control wires that are running up front with the hightlight harness ,then they can come right outta the box them and into the fender , pics below !

Jamie, Awesome work, I don't know how I missed your project, as you said in the beginning, " I've been truck drunk" since I found this site, a couple months back. You've came along way with it since I was up there and seen it. Seems to be a really good group of guys on here, not to mention the info I've picked up on. Also Guys there is no end to this mans talents, to the smallest of details to who only knows. GOOD WORK. Budd...

Re: 77 yellow gmc swb

you could make it look like its out of one piece by smoothing the welds and polish it again , it looks verry nice

the box gave me an idea about mounting the cover by making a bracket with a strong magnet where the cover slides over and hold it in place
it would be a nice mountingsolution without any screws needed on the outside , too bad its a box made out of aluminium or stainless than again you could still glue a piece of steel or the magnet itself on the back of that cover , some of these magnets are pretty powerfull and you would need more then just youre fingers to get it off the bracket

Re: 77 yellow gmc swb

Thanks guys, I cant sell em, if I start makin parts for everybodys trucks mine wont get done ! I like the welds , I left them on everything I made , the tabs on the back side is what I used to mount it so you cant see any screws, I also put some gasket material on the back side to keep from scratchin the paint ,

I kinda like the welds too. gives it a clean fabed product, instead of store bought. That tonnueu cover I emailed you about is for a long bed.

Re: 77 yellow gmc swb

So since I got the wiring tuned up I figured I would plug the led lights in and a headlight switch and fire em up , I dont have the electronic flasher yet so I knew I wouldnt get a flash ,but as soon as I plugged the battery in the marker lights came on with the switch off . I played with the switch and replace with another still the same, its been a long day so I gave up and went to the house , after thinking about this for awhile I went back out found it to be the hazards were on !
