What are the nubs on the floor?

I'm doing floor repairs and I'm unsure what the nubs on the floor are for. I would like to remove them but don't want to find out later I should have left them in.

I attached a picture of one by the high beam switch.

They help locate and hold in place the underlayment that goes under your floor mat or carpet

I was wondering the same thing. I am planning on laying down kilmat after paint so I’m guessing these won’t be needed.

Re: What are the nubs on the floor?

They are to hold a rubber floor mat

There are holes in the mat that fit over the nubs to hold it in place

Re: What are the nubs on the floor?

Thanks guys! I looked over my carpet for a while thinking it must hook in somehow. Makes sense it is for the rubber floor mat. I'll probably remove them so it's easier to lay in the sound deadener.

Re: What are the nubs on the floor?

Why not just cut the mat around them?

Personal preference mostly. I'm doing a lot of work on the firewall and floor anyway and I took a good bit off of one while I was patching some holes a previous owner cut for an aftermarket air conditioning system.

Re: What are the nubs on the floor?

I get that. In the past I've just cut around, the reason I asked. But that was with untouched floors
