Hotwire Auto built the harness. They are great to work with to be honest.

Re: Son's 68 c10 Short Bed

We got a lot of stuff done on Saturday. Finished removing the cross braces from the old bed floor (tons of spot welds), cleaned them up and painted them, then laid them out under the new bed floor, placed the bed back on the frame, and everything tacked back into place. We also got the gas door laid out on the new floor and the first hole drilled. I snapped this picture before removing the bed.

Looking real good! I just finished removing all of the old braces from the floor too. That was quite the chore! Digging the updates 👌🏽

Yes sir, not a fun job at all. I should have bought new ones and saved on headaches.

Re: Son's 68 c10 Short Bed

Okay, so we have the gas door laid out. I think we are going to go with this plan but am going to take a few days to think about it. The plan is to sink it about half way, tig weld the high ribs to the gas door, and seam seal the gaps on the low ribs. Then just finish it off with body work where needed and paint.

Looks like a quality door. I'm planning on doing something similar.

Re: Son's 68 c10 Short Bed

On Saturday, we finished tacking the cross braces under the bed. By all accounts, the bed is ready to be body worked. I've said it from the beginning, the bed was going to be the biggest challenge with this truck and I feel pretty relieved it is done.

Re: Son's 68 c10 Short Bed

Got the seatbelts in and installed. I wish the clasp side was a little longer but they should work just fine. Ordered them from eBay and spent about $150 on them.

Re: Son's 68 c10 Short Bed

Spent most of the day on Saturday continuing bodywork on the bed. Should have it ready for primer next weekend. All-in-all, it wasn't too bad.

Unfortunately, we're only getting one day a week to work on it. Once school is done, I am hoping we wrap it up relatively quickly. I am winding down my list of things to buy which is definitely a relief for me.

Re: Son's 68 c10 Short Bed

We got the truck out of the shop on Saturday and I let my son drive it around a nearby neighborhood. Pretty exciting to me. The truck sounds really good and drives nice. Be forewarned, there's a lot of my face in the video - sorry about that.

Ha - that sounds like the last thing I need. Trying to balance building a pretty nice truck, on a budget, for a 16 year old kid......
