70 doors on a 72

Simple question. Will 1970 doors fit on a 1972. I know the outside handle is different, but how much else is different? I may be able to get a great deal on new doors, but they are 67-71 doors.

Door panels are different you would have to drill some holes to retain the 72 panels and theres no screw below the vent window . But the will go on and work properly

67 door handles are a one year only. Otherwise, the door shells will swap over just fine. The window regulators and interior door handle mechanisms have longer rods that the cranks and door levers attach too for 72, maybe 71 (the years with the plastic interior door panels). So, you need to use the right window regulator and door mechanism with the interior panels you are using.

MY '71 had the steel door panels covered in vinyl, and the shorter shafts on the controls, just like MY '68 on.

To answer the OP's question -- Yes '70 doors would fit and function fine in a '72 cab. It would just resemble a MY '70.

Re: 70 doors on a 72

Thanks everyone. There is a new set for sale local to me that I can probably pick up for cheap. Mine are in good shape, but have been patched, and there is a little bubbling starting. However, there is also another set of OEM "rust free" doors for sale near me. I don't need doors, but I was thinking about picking them up just to have them.

That's the spirit!!!!!! I'm sure you will need them someday and when that day comes you will feel so good.

Re: 70 doors on a 72

Thanks for bringing that up, I've been pondering about that ever since one of my buddies picked me up a pair of earlier shells without much hardware in them that are very nice and the same color as my truck.

I have no idea of how many different sets of mirrors my uncle had on the truck over the years but every time he knocked the mirrors off it he bought a different style and drilled more holes.
