I was just on the phone with a guy from Desert rat, and he had to throw me a curve ball... I was all set up to order 35x12.5 parnelli jones tires on 15x10 m/t classicII wheels...The problem I have is this guy says he thinks that the sidewalls on the pj`s will rub with only a 4in lift...it`s a 1971 short bed 4x4 with a brand new soft ride sus lift...question is do I go with the 35`s and take a chance that they will hit or just be safe and go with 33`s.......thanks John

I'm running 35-12.5's on my Blazer with a 4" lift. I don't currently have clearance problems, but the owner before me had cut clearance for 36-14.5's. Take a look at this pic, and try to guestimate what you are looking at. I'm repairing these panels over the winter, but still have concerns of my own.

I'm running 35/12.50 BFG at's on 15x10 w/3.5 back spacing with 4 in. rancho lift and they WILL rub when turning If the suspension flexes . If your gonna wheel it run 33's , If street only 35's will work. Hope this helps. Jeff

I'm not sure if this info will help you decide or not, because many on this board are running a 35x12.5 tire with a 4" lift and no clearance problems. Well, here it goes.

Not knowing what the tread design is like on the parnelli jones tires, you may or may not have clearance issues. I tend to think that most people who are running an All Terrain tire are fine but a more aggressive tread might be a problem. A friend of mine had a 70 shortbed 4x4 with 35x12.5 All Terrain tires mounted on 15x12 rims with a 6" lift and he had rubbing problems. His rims were 2" wider but he also had 2 more inches of lift. I personally run the Super Swamper SSR radial and they are fairly aggressive compared to an All Terrain tire. Mine are 35x14.5 mounted on 15x14 rims and I'm running 8" of suspension lift and mine will rub if I flex it just right. For normall everyday driving, mine doesn't rub and it's fine.

I would think (depending on the offset of your 15x10 rims or the amount of backspacing you have) that the tires you were ready to order may or may not rub depending on how true the tire size is and how aggressive the tread design is.

You can look at the pics in my signature, I have 2" lift w/ 33s on 15x10 w/ 4" bs and they don't rub, not even w/ 2 tons of sand in the back.

Oh yeah, the swampers I have are almost 34" tall. Have you checked to see what the PJ website says about tire height? Not all 35s are created equal. I had some 35" Mud kings that were slightly over 34" new.

From a review I read, PJ's tires are very close to advertised height. I'm thinking you will have some contact with those tires.

I kept the drivetrain. Body/bad and chassis are gone. 1981 K30, 350/465/205 dana 60 and dually 14 bolt. Has a G80, and a flat bed. Going to replace the flat bed. 1985 K20, 350/400/208 10 bolt and SF 14 bolt. I wonder where I can find some 1 tons. Hmmmmm
