Talking Tilt Steering Column

Very nice rebuilt tilt. Send me your used truck or van tilt and I will send you a quality tilt worth putting in your truck or purchase one outright. One of the most important pieces in your truck is the one thats in your hands. Does it make sense to spend $275 on a used tilt with many miles of use and loose tolerances or buy a tilt that feels and functions as new while improving your truck. Save a couple bucks elsewhere on your truck and use it towards a nice tilt steering column. I will guarantee your satisfaction with purchase. Thank You

$475 plus shipping
$375 If you send me your used Van or Truck tilt.

Purchase safe with Pay Pal by sending payment to tiltcolumn@gmail.com

Shipping cost averages about $20 to $40 dollars depending on where you live.

Brand new levers can be added for $54. Includes shift lever w/ new knob, signal lever and tilt lever. Original style replacement.

This column below is how the rebuild starts out. 100% absolutely apart. This is the only way to recondition and inspect every part to insure a quality rebuild.

Thanks for recognizing nice quality. The powder coat is PK 05 Black semi gloss. This same column sells for $550.00 from a California vendor. Seems to me that $75.00 is a reasonable savings. If a person was real interested I could add a little more discount. I go to great lengths to make these columns as close to new as possible. Thanks for checking in have a great day. Scott Nadeau

Re: Tilt Steering Column

That looks very nice. Does your column have the light for the shift indicator? Do you have a indicator for a 700 trans. I may be hitting you up before long I have a nice truck, junk van tilt that was converted by po.

I can set you up with a indicator for a 4 speed auto. Yes all my columns have a light for the indicator.

Re: Tilt Steering Column

Will you have a non-tilt truck Column in for a core trade-in for your tilt?

Will be interested in yours in either case in the future.

Thanks.

Re: Tilt Steering Column

72swbcamo I was wondering the same thing.

Retro68, You are not cutting down van tilts into truck tilts are you? That is what the California vendor does that is why I quit selling their tilts.

Re: Tilt Steering Column

Am I missing something? What is the problem with cutting a van tilt down to truck length & specs? If it is done well, they should be the same. The only difference is the shaft length & tube length...All else is the same.
Let's face it...there are not that many "real" truck tilts available. I have been selling "built" tilts for years, with no complaints.

Re: Tilt Steering Column

PICKMUP, They was a vendor selling them not resplined but cut in the middle of the shaft and welding them back together. Might not be a problem now but let one break that you have sold and someone get injured or killed and you will be living in the back of one of these trucks.

Re: Tilt Steering Column

Re: Tilt Steering Column

I have talked to Scott over the phone a few times and he seems like he knows his stuff. I'll let him comment on the tilts, just wanted to mention that since he hasn't posted on here in a few days.

I think i'm going to shorten the connecting rod between my van column and the steering box. Knocking out the sheer pin seems safe to me.

Re: Tilt Steering Column

Guys I am not knocking Scotts tilts in anyway what so ever. They are actually one of the best looking I have seen. They look better than the ones I do. He might actually have a way to respline them also which would be great. The main thing I am saying is I will not sell a rewelded tilt because of Liability issues I am not saying they are going to break. But in todays world you can get sued over a hot cup of coffee!

Re: Tilt Steering Column

A response will be forth coming as soon as my time permits. I can assure all interested that your concerns will be completely resolved. Too often answers are addressed to quickly without hearing all the questions that are proposed. This is why I have waited to respond. Thank You for bringing this to notice. My complete intention is to provide service to members that is credible and worthy in it self. I would not jeopardize a persons well being with poor quality or dangerous ideas for the sake of a couple dollars. Thanks for responding everyone. I will be back shortly with complete details on how a van tilt becomes a truck tilt and the the reasoning as to why van tilts are used for this purpose. Scott Nadeau

OK so first is the pictures of a completely disassembled Van tilt. There are four changes that make a Van tilt different from a Truck tilt. Both columns share the same design and most of the same parts. Here is the four changes the were made to a Van tilt. 1 The neutral safety switch was moved farther up the column tube with a different neutral safety switch. 2 The steering shaft is longer. 3 The rubber floor seal is not the same. 4 The wire harness cover is longer. So there you have it for one column being opposite of the other. The pictures that follow show the modifications I make to convert from a Van tilt to a Truck tilt. As I have said my workmanship and quality supports the true value of offering a quality piece. The reason for using a Van tilt for conversion rebuild is the cost. Truck tilts sell at $275 or more and have years of use in them. This is not cost effective by the time you invest labor cost, quality replaced parts and powder coating. It is cost effective if you own a truck or van tilt that you have not had to purchase and invest in having it rebuilt. If I can be of service please contact me. Thank You Scott Nadeau

Re: Tilt Steering Column

This is how the steering shaft is welded together. The shaft is shortened then V ground and welded. Then a chrome molly sleeve is slid over the joint and welded at each end. This is all done in a line bore to keep the shaft straight. The shaft would have to break twice in order for it to fail. This is a very, very low probability considering the small amount of inertia that is placed on this shaft when turning a vehicle. This shaft is inside the shift tube and is not visible after installation.

Re: Tilt Steering Column

The remaining pictures are for you to view and judge the quality of workmanship for yourself. I invite any comments that might improve or suggest and idea. If you are interested I am here to help. The quality of parts and workmanship is always my objective and providing a part that is above average and priced fairly is my intent. Thank You
