Action's project - 1966 C10

Well, here goes! I thought I would start a build thread so that my Dad can monitor the progress of me tearing apart his Dad's 1966 Chevy C10. This seemed like a good way to keep him updated along with all of you. So the background is my Grandfather purchased this truck in 1971 in Phenix City AL for $1000.00. He left it to my Dad when he passed away in 1975 and he has just passed it on to me in 2009.

Here is the first picture I have with me and the truck

Way cool. Thanks for posting. I love seeing a truck with family history, and to still be in such nice condition. And welcome from the Northwest.

That must be nice to start with a truck in that good of condition. I agree on the coolness of the family history with this truck. Hopefully it will continue for a few more generations.

You're doing a good job....keep the pics coming

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Thanks everyone for all the kind words!

I did get a little bit more accomplished today, I got the front clip off. She's looking more naked every day!

Re: Action's project - 1966 C10

The worst part of removing the front clip was definitely those 2 radiator bolts!

Also the aft part of the driver's side fender was welded due to rust the last time it was painted. That wasn't so much fun either.

Welcome to the forums from Kansas City, KS. The first picture of you running toward the truck is awesome, because my only son is about that age right now. Great story and surely many great memories for you and your family.

Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing.

Re: Action's project - 1966 C10

Time to get this thread updated, sorry but life happens!

Here are a few shots of my son removing the exhaust, he was so proud of himself. He removed the entire exhaust from the manifold to the tailpipe all by himself.

Check out his concentration:

Re: Action's project - 1966 C10

Dad said it made a loud squeal when he used the heater, could this have contributed to the squeal?
