Re: How to adjust engine hood

Have you tried loosening the bolts that are thru the hinge, and into the hood? Those holes are oversized and slotted for adj..
Is it both sides or just the 1 side?
You could also possibly have bent hinges as well..has it always been this way,,or just recent?

Re: How to adjust engine hood

Mongocanfly is correct. I swap out my hood and it was high in the back like that. And those are the bolts in my picture that are circled. Loosen those up and pull the hood down, and tighten.
Last photo is after the hood was painted.

Re: How to adjust engine hood

So the pic of the bolts shown wouldn't they be for front to back adjustment?
On my 68 the hinge fender bolts are the ones that affect the level at the back of the hood.
To get the hood to set lower on my 68 at the back loosen the back bolts on either side and slightly loosen the front bolts. Then push the front of the hood up and tighten the bolts. Close the hood slowly because will cause the hood to move back a bit.

Re: How to adjust engine hood

it does allow for front to back, and also up and down.. the 86 differs greatly from your 68
on the 86, the hinge mounts to a flat horizontal surface.. its possible you could shim the 86 up at this point..but not down
