2003 Suburban SS project!!!!!!

My daily driver is a 2003 chevy suburban I purchased 'Brand new" in August 2003. It only has 104,000miles but the clearcoat is absent from the top of the black paint, my PCM crapped out(transmission wont shift properly) carpet and seats could use re-freshing and the headlights are yellowed up.

I decided to bring this one back instead of buying a new truck. While visiting the coast a few years ago I saw a red suburban with an SS package that was "SWEET". So I decided to turn mine into a "SS"

So far.. I have already accumulated:

Silverado SS front bumper and black bumper grilles
projector headlight and grille conversion "black"
led tail lights "black"
led 3rd brake light "black"
black carpet kit
slotted and drilled rotors and ceramic pad kit
white faced gauge kit

seat covers are all I have left to get... interior will be either all black with platinum stiching or black with grey inserts... I've been having trouble making the final descision

but what ever the descision on color patterns... I will have bowties and SS emblems in the seats

I'll be posting pics soon.

I'm in for this one as well. Sounds awesome. What are you doing for wheels, are you gonna run Silverado SS 20s?

I have a set of 24" black/machined Incubus Paranormals on it now, I'll either get them powdercoated all black or switch them out for a set of Chrome 24" Iroc replicas...

I have been trying to post pics, my phone is not cooperating

Yeah, if its just a driver thats prolly better anyway, I heard that even though the 6.0's aren't that much bigger the gas mileage is alot lower.

Re: 2003 Suburban SS project!!!!!!

Got motivated to put this stuff on thats been in the garage for a year now, didnt take long. About 30minutes to pull it apart. Dusk caught me trying to prep it. Woke up the next day and finished the prep and spayed a satin black on the hood and bumper. I'm loving the satin rugged look.

all this time I have been waiting to do this and finished it in 2days

I was supposed to trade it in yesterday, I was busy finishing up the paint. If they dont give me what I want I'm keeping it.

sanded it down... hit it with Duplicolor high build primer, blocked it down, hit it with flat black primer, got lazy and used the elctric palm sanded and shot the satin black. It looks ok. but i would like to touch it again.

Re: 2003 Suburban SS project!!!!!!

If i keep it I"ll work on the hood some more. It looked good and smooth but the black showed some imperfections. I can see some swirl marks from the sand paper. I need to hit it with more of the high build primer and block it down. I short cutted with the electric palm sander. it bit me...

I think it looks good so far. I didn't expect the different headlights, though.

Re: 2003 Suburban SS project!!!!!!

I didnt expect that look. A put a similiar kit on a silverado and it didnt look just like a range rover, everybody loves it though. The salesman at the dealership had to take a 2nd look at it. He offered me $4500 for it with the busted bumper, blistering clearcoat and yellowed up lights 2wks ago.

I love the SS stuff but I also am not a fan of the lights. I went with the SS bumper and badgeless SS grille on my Tahoe. Here are a couple of pics -
