Building a better bench.

I have been thinking about building my own bench seat for quite awhile.

The plan is to use 3/4 round tube for the frame, and bead rolled sheet metal for the base+back. Then glue over high density foam, and have covered by a professional.

One issue that bugs me is that the stock bench is to narrow to sit in the center of the wheel, and I want to ride low in the truck. Also I can add a bit of side bolstering like a suspension seats. I have looked at those, but they will sit me too high. Or higher then the stock bench would of. Which would be perfect if this was a 4x4 so I can see over the sides easier.

Has anyone done this with good results?

I have Chevy cavalier seats lying around too.
