Re: New 64 Stepper Project

Looking good all these parts...
"Those that do not know how to build a motor say that" now that is funny. I ran chrome for years and now i am doing all powder coated or painted just for change.
But this build is looking good sir.

The parts are looking great. I'll bet you can't wait to get them on your truck.

Re: New 64 Stepper Project

I'm way happy to be starting yes.
I started on the door assembly. Funny thing, I ordered some Flatline Barrier Sound and insulation from Summit. Parts # is FB04, shows a 36" X 12" Piece. So I bought two just in case.
The two boxes came in from their vendor, outside it said FB04 from Flatline. There are 25 pieces in each box.
So I'm on hold until I get it fixed with Summit, don't want them coming back and saying I owe them $900.
Started the Steering column install and wiring though, post a pic after I eat.

Shiny & Red is a great look.

If Summit doesn't want any of the extra parts back, I'm pretty sure there are a few people on this forum who'd take it off your hands.

You will love it, have one of the original ones, works fantastic, can’t remember how many engines I have done with it. Once I put in a iron block 555” big block chevy with a tko600 on it, clutch and all in one chunk...in a 70 vette

Re: New 64 Stepper Project

So Summit finally got back to me about their vendor sending me too much sound deadner/heat shield. Seems they (the vendor) will be sending me the correct stuff and a UPS will call to send out the boxes of incorrectly sent items.
Slows my whole door process down quite a bit. Once the glass goes in can't get in the sound deadner.
And my door mirror, the three fastener holes are 5/6"-18 not 1/4"-20 that was sent with the mirror, another slow down. I ordered three stainless ones from the bolt depot, so I'll be polishing those when they get in.
Guess it's time to call Extreme Automatics for my transmission and Blueprint Engines for the engine.

Re: New 64 Stepper Project

If you don't mind me asking. Why a 350 as apposed to a 383 stroker or something like that?

Re: New 64 Stepper Project

I never gave any thought. I know 350's and hear mixed issues on 383's and I don't want any issues on the big guys truck. The BluePrint BP3503CT1 has more than enough horse power to get me where I want to go. I'm not into breaking things anymore.

I have run many a 350, few 327's, a 283, LS and now i am onto a 383 Full roller motor that is not tame, but i must agree with you that with the good ole 350 from Blueprint, you know what you got, that it will run and should be flawless. Me with this crazy 383.. ya that is another thought. Everything must be upgraded (well maybe not "must be" but with me it must...lol) and as you get more and more fancy you can get into issues down the road.
Happy you got this motor, it is enough to get you down the road and could get you into trouble, so I always say that this would be enough.... LOL
