Vent Shades - are they worth having?? Your experience, photos.

I saw this truck in a thread, realized I still like them in a perverse, quirky kinda way.

Also nice for a wet day out to let air in but keep rain out when parked up.

Theses are them......

http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53...os-vent-shades

Prices range madly, and you can get them from LMC as new repros.

I do not need silly prices, rather just the look and functionality..

The one I saw that reminded me I like them.

Some I found via Google

Please post up more photos if you have them fitted.

Also comment on how well they fit, and if they do make a noticeable difference in the rain etc..

Thank you.

PS. What about a pair of these??

The worth is going to be totally depended on you and how much you want/don't want them. I like them, I will probably have a pair on mine when the time comes. you also mentioned prices, well with anything that is ever made, you get what you pay for.

The headlight ones I have never seen.

I wonder if they make noise at highway speed?

Headlight ones are probably more hotrod, lowrider territory.

I have them on my truck and really like them. Work really good at getting some air through the cab when it rains. The ones on my truck are from vent shade. They have been making them forever. Had them on my 63 in 1975. The headlight eyebrows look like the ones made by United Pacific and you can get them from Summit.

Any original accessory is worth putting on your truck, in my bias opinion. I have these on my 63 and also had them on my 62 K10. I like them for when you park and wish to have a little air circulate in the cab with a little security. No wind noise to speak of when driving.

I have had the ventshades on my 65 Suburban since 1993, and I don't here any noise from them. I had been thinking about painting them Antique White to match the doors, but changed my mind. They do allow you to keep the window open a little bit to let in some air, especially here in Arizona. I also like the headlight half shields. I used to have some, and will eventually replace them. And they don't affect the light as they say.

Re: Vent Shades - are they worth having?? Your experience, photos.

I have had them and I used them for two reasons.

One that has already been mentioned and that is allows air in the cab without letting other stuff in, ie rain or bugs etc.

the other is if you smoke, allows you to let the smoke and ashes out when driving.

I dont smoke anymore and dont have the vent shades but those are the purposes I used them for.

I have them on my truck and like them. I don't know that they make any high way noise, but are nice to have when it rains so you can crack the side windows down.
