Re: Freshening up the 80 k10

I got the engine wire harness cleaned up and installed, got everything else engine related hooked up, and got it running again. Also started getting some trim installed.

Re: Freshening up the 80 k10

I've been plugging away at this old truck, slow but sure! I got the cab floor cleaned up, and gave it a heavy coat of mastic epoxy. I followed that up with some sound deadener, then some new carpet. I cleaned up, and re-dyed the interior plastic parts, and got the interior installed. I also got some mirrors installed, and rebuilt the vent windows. Over the last couple of days, I got the body work done on the hood, got it painted, and got it put on the truck this afternoon.

Re: Freshening up the 80 k10

I started getting the beat up, but rust free bed sides pounded into shape tonight. Lots of little dents, and dings to hammer out, and a bunch of screw, and bolt holes to weld up.

Nice work.
Looks like you have some experience with the repro sheetmetal rockers etc. Do you think theres any quality difference between the brands ?

I think its all about the same. None of it fits great without some work.

Re: Freshening up the 80 k10

Still slowly plugging away at this old truck! I have the first round of body work done on the bed, got the rally wheels cleaned up, and painted, and tonight mounted up some new 31x10.5r15 tires.

Nice work! That green is awesome.

I recently put those BFG all terrains on my k10 except I went with the 33x10.50 r15. One of the few tires I’ve ever seen that you can get in that more narrow size in a 33.

Nice color on the wheels. And the tires look good too.

New to me, fun tool! I like the old plastic head GM keys, and the small hardware store i used to get my keys cut, went out of business, so I found this little key cutter, and ordered up some old GM keys! It workes awesome, and is pretty fun.

Love the color, and love the BFG's on rallies...you can never go wrong with those.

Re: Freshening up the 80 k10

I got the bed painted, and got the truck back on the road for a couple of shake down runs, back and forth to work. I have a few bugs to work out, but it was nice to drive it again! I still have to get the inside of the bed sprayed with some bed liner.

Re: Freshening up the 80 k10

Thanks guys! I'm anxious to get the bed liner done, and work out a few bugs. I have wind noise from the right door somewhere, and it's driving me nuts!

Re: Freshening up the 80 k10

I must say that I kind of thought the paint on the cab was a bit loud. It looks great and I love the color on the truck after seeing it complete. Nice work. Im in the process of acquiring an 87, this is inspirational and motivational.

Re: Freshening up the 80 k10

Thanks! I used to have a 78 corvette that I painted this same color. I found out that I wasn't really a corvette guy, but really liked the color. Its real close to the new, loud, greens used on some modern cars, but seems close enough to some of the old greens to work well.

Re: Freshening up the 80 k10

Even though the truck isn't "done" yet, the wife and I drove it down to the Goodguys show in Des Moines. I put a tonneau cover over the unfinished bed, and the rest of the truck cleaned up nicely. We battled a clogged fuel filter for the last 100 miles of the trip there, but got everything sorted out once we got there. It was a great weekend!
