1968 manual column shift backup lights switch problem

My 68 backup lights did not work and I found out the switch was broken. This truck has the original column and never has been touched. I removed the switch and looked on the internet for a replacement like the one I took off but couldn't find one. (Below is a couple of pics)

I checked with O'reilly's and they said they had one that would work. I went and got it but couldn't get it to work. The one I took off has a single spring loaded post that looks like it is pushed when going to reverse and springs back when not in reverse. The replacement is a larger non spring loaded sliding switch.

Anyone have any ideas on a replacement?

Update.

Did some more searching on the internet and found the switch I was looking for. The original part number was GM 3745921.

I found one on this site:

Can you take them apart and use the spring in the new one? Just thinking even though it hurts to do so. Good luck.

No. They're totally different. The O'reilly's is for automatic (powerglide, etc.) The one I need is for manual three speed and went ahead and ordered it from the site above. Should be getting it next week. I am keeping the O'reilly's since I have a complete steering column for my 69 that was automatic.
