Got an offer....

So I'm looking at getting a K5, really dig the 69-72s a lot. I have a 95 firebird that i'm currently selling and a guy not too far from me offered to trade his 1990 K5. I haven't seen it in person or anything yet. he says it's a 4x4 auto. Anything i should i know about this year in particular? I'm not entirely sure I'll accept his offer, but i'm open to look at it.

Thanks guys!

Welcome to the site!

I'm thinking about an 88-91 as well. I started a thread on another site to see what some folks had to say about the same thing.

Re: Got an offer....

Too many K5's have been cut up into mudders, or worse, hacked up into wanna-be poser mudders.

If it's a good survivor, I'd call it a good trade. When you go look at it, snap plenty of pictures to share here. There's enough analytical eyes here to help you make an informed decision.

Do post back, and good luck with it!

Re: Got an offer....

You need to decide what you will use it for. These are great units but you need to look at what you will want to do with it and what it already has. And I'd pay more attention to items like rust on the body and condition of suspension. For example are you keeping bumpers or going custom? Are the wheel wells cut to fit the wheel size you want and is it a clean cut? Are the seats all staying or going? Roll cage....does it need one? If you are wanting a 72 for the look, I wouldn't go off road with it and would go with the 90. If you wanted it for the function of off road, then it doesn't matter. If I am going off road, I myself would not pay more for another body style over another one just because I like the body style better. If that was the case, I'd go for a 71 or 72 burb instead of a 91.
