amp problem

I have two amps in my blazer. They both have separate ground wires, but share the same power wire that runs to the battery.

The smaller amp keeps going on and off, on and off, on and off, and I don't get any sound or anything from the bigger amp. Sounds like a heartbeat coming out of the speakers. Speakers that aren't even hooked up to that amp.

Everything was fine with the bigger amp and its 4 speakers until I hooked up the smaller sub amp.

Re: amp problem

Sorry, I tried to reply earlier and my computer died.

The amp is going into protect, and from what I gather, probably due to low voltage.

Try running a seperate power wire and fuse to the sub amp, or run a larger (4ga) main line then a distro block to split a 4ga wire into twin 8ga wires.

While you're at it, double check your grounds and all that.

Re: amp problem

Also, make sure none of your speaker cables are in contact with metal OR one another!

Re: amp problem

Dam, right as I saw this thread again, I was gonna say double check all the speaker wire for a short as well.

Beat me to it...

Again, just double check ALL of your connections. 99% of the time, it's a loose or crossed wire...

Re: amp problem

Double checked and Double Checked. Borrowed another amp from a buddy and it works fine. So something's up with the amp.

Got the seat back down and the speaker box installed. Check out my build thread for the pics. I think it looks pretty decent.
