New Suburban Project

Picked up a 1991 Suburban today, clean, stock and uncut. Hoping to drop it 4-6 inches and put some wheels on it in the next month or so.

Looking forward to the new project!

Re: New Suburban Project

Well its lowered now, 5" front and 6" rear. Pretty happy with it and rides real nice. Hoping to order some wheels for it this week. I am leaning towords the Boss 338 wheels with the gray center. Crummy camera phone pics, I will post some better pics this weekend.

The color is starting to grow on me, I may leave it.

Re: New Suburban Project

That looks great man!

Just as a side thought... I wonder why the factory never continued the 2-tone thru out the front fender. Example below the front turn signal... I never really noticed it b4 now.

Anyways continue on! lol

Re: New Suburban Project

Looks killer man!! What was the combo used to drop it? Spindles/springs and a flip kit, or something else? How's the clearance between the rear axle and frame? Boss 338's in gray would be awesome. Keep up the progress!

Re: New Suburban Project

Thanks, I used Western Chassis parts to lower it, 2 1/2" springs and spindles and there flip kit and then I used a 1" lift shackle. The 1" shackle gave it a 1/2" rake in the back. There is 2 1/2" clearance between the frame and axel housing.

The wheels should be on this weekend!

Re: New Suburban Project

Classic87... I never really noticed that either until I saw this one. I think the center stripe has been repainted so maybe it was done then.

I always wonder the same thing when I see a 2-tone from the factory...

Re: New Suburban Project

Man it's just getting better and BETTER... I'm really liking those wheels. Is the lip polished on those... or chrome? Is there an option?

Thanks,
Anthony

Re: New Suburban Project

Thanks everybody, I am liking it and the wife doesnt hate it near as much as she did when I first got it! I won't be doing much to it for a while, the wheels finished off the hot rod fund for a while.

Classic87, the wheel edge is polished, I dont think chrome is an option from the factory.

I was a little disapointed with the wheels at first. The front wheels wouldnt just bolt on, the lower portion of the rotor where it flares out would not go inside the wheel hole. I used a 1/2" spacer to clear it but other than that I would have had to machine the wheel or turn down the spindle portion of the rotor. I wasnt aware of that when I ordered the wheels.
