Good to see he's able to think outside of the box. Hey, a little more advise. Might want to keep Monroe as far from Weaverville as possible, could be hazardous to his health or at least purdy dang depressing. Chicken lives matter!

Re: Son of Trucks are for Chickens ... Its on!

Seeing how Monroe was "cooped up" in that box for who knows how long, I decided to let him tag along to work. He wasn't happy I woke him up so early but once we got some coffee in him he was OK.

He was a bit annoying on the drive- all he wanted to listen to on the stereo was "Surfin' Bird." After the fourth time it was a bit much.

When we got to the shop he saw the big trucks and got all ruffled up with excitement. He went right over to big bertha and insisted I take a picture.

I boosted him up into the pilots seat but he couldn't reach any of the controls. I was a bit skeptical he could actually drive a 10 spd like he claimed anyway. He just ended up just blowing the air horn until he emptied the air tanks, like my kid always does.

After he got bored of blasting the air horns we went into the shop where he said he could help me troubleshoot a no-start problem on a duramax. He figured since he's spent so much time wrenching with everyone on his trip he'd know what to do. Turns out he's lousy on diesels and wasn't much help at all so I had to figure this one out on my own.

After a few minutes he wore my patience thin with all his "ideas" so I put him in my office to get caught up on email and just relax in the AC (he was getting broiled in the shop).

Well it wasn't long before our IT guy was calling me asking why my computer kept pinging blocked sites and getting the firewall all worked up. I went in to check on him and busted him trying to get on some "hens gone wild" website.

It was then I figured out why we haven't heard from him in so long and why there haven't been any pictures. He kept mentioning wanting to "check out the local talent" but I told him firmly that wasn't going to happen. If this keeps up, I'll have to consider bringing him to church on Sunday to get him back on the right path. I was tempted to do a random drug test on him but he swore he couldn't produce a sample as he has a "shy bladder."

We'll see what we can find to do this weekend that is PG friendly.

Ive had a bunch more people send me their info. I just don't know whats going to happen considering how this has started out.

Ive also had a few people opt out because of some of the comments when we were having problems finding Monroe. People that I was really looking forward to playing along ... kinda bummed me out, but I get it.

You can email me your info ... You never know what will happen =)

monroetherubberchicken@gmail.com

I don't check it that often so don't worry if I don't acknowledge.

Great pics so far NC_John ... thanks!!!

Re: Son of Trucks are for Chickens ... Its on!

"Sir, please don't put the rubber chicken in the race cars." But more about that later.

Monroe enjoyed his second day in the Tarheel today.

We started the day in the garage where he wanted some pictures with Blu for his scrapbook.

We did a bit of work. My suspension was sitting on the bump stops so we pulled the wheels and trimmed them back. Too much it seems. Now the tire is hitting the fender on hard turns.

Re: Son of Trucks are for Chickens ... Its on!

After our garage time we cleaned up and headed out for the day.

My son was teaching him how to play minecraft (or whatever it is he is addicted to right now).

We stopped by Mrs. NC_John's work and the two knuckleheads checked out a few new stingrays. Monroe tried to buy the blue one (he said it would help him pick up chicks) but he wasn't approved for financing (and I wouldn't co-sign for him).

From there we headed back out but a warning to anyone who hosts him next- apparently anytime there is a giant chicken, you have to stop for a picture or Monroe flips out.

Re: Son of Trucks are for Chickens ... Its on!

Monroe really got excited about our next few stops. Turns out he is a big NASCAR fan so this was right up his alley.

They were running a "driving school" when we were there so we got in to take a look.

Here's a link to a short video of the track

http://vid780.photobucket.com/albums...psvmzeqky1.mp4

Then after watching the cars for a while (they sounded great but man those people were driving them slow), we went down the street so he could see where speed REALLY lives.

There wasn't anything going on but he still thought it was cool to check out.

Re: Son of Trucks are for Chickens ... Its on!

Then he really had some fun.....

Like every other bird out there, he's a Dale Jr. fan so he was pretty excited to see one of his cars.

He ran around that place clucking and checking it all out like it was his own coop.

Re: Son of Trucks are for Chickens ... Its on!

And it went on.....

Then he started getting either carried away or very brave and climbing into the race cars. That was when we were scolded "Sir, please don't put the rubber chicken in the race cars. The signs clearly say do not touch the cars." Monroe was so mad she referred to him as a "rubber chicken" he insisted we leave then and there.

We ended our visit and went for lunch. My son wanted Chick Fil A but instead of putting Monroe through such an ordeal we took him out for some NC bar-b-que instead. He appreciated our thoughtfulness.

The short-stack of poultry had a big day. He'll probably take it easy tomorrow.

OMG, Im honestly cracking up here. What a cool adventure. I need to keep track of the kiddos that hang with Monroe. I have surprises to send them.

I really appreciate the time and effort people put in to this!!!!

I forgot to ask, are all the labels, pens, tape, instructions and the other extras still in the box?
