I have the same problem with my Jeep. It's tough for me to get in and out of it.

Screw it. I'll crawl in it like a baby trying to escape from a playpen. I'm not proud. I'll do it. And I like driving it.

I'm redoing my 68 stepside. Looking at your truck I wish I had just left it as it was

Re: Describe your ideal build -- with one caveat...

Wish I could find the video, but there's gray I think 69-72 with suspension and drive-train beyond anything I'd be familiar with. Tons of HP on a stick, basically a race truck. Took curves like a dream. Oh wait, you said 75K.

Probably a C20 4WD AT with a newer GM BBC for daily & travel. Wouldn't mind an RV either, so if anyone has one of these for sale then

I put that 67 on the back burner to build a K10. I will be ready to start on the body soon. It is my dream build for right now, but I'm not sure I would want to drive it everyday.

I'd like to have the truck I already have made all fresh. It has just the right equipment already. I'd donate the rest to a worthy cause.

Those 67-72 two-tone k10's are "classy" in a way that the squarebody's never were. That said, I still prefer squares.

Re: Describe your ideal build -- with one caveat...

I'm going with a c20 square body. I like the looks of a 73-79, but prefer the 80-87 interior even though they are only marginally different.

I don't see the need for a 4wd truck. The C20 is probably a little much, but I prefer the extra girth over the C10's for winter driving.

As far as drivetrain goes, a Vortec small block will do, either an SFI unit or a Holley sniper will do the fuel duties. As far as trannies go, a SM465 with a 3.21 rearend. A 4l80 with a 3.73 rear would be my second choice. I've driven 14 bolt trucks with factory lockers, so my choice would be an E-locker that I can control.

As far as the body and paint, stock will do. Smaller west coast mirrors are good. Some aluminum running boards would top it off.

Interior- the only options I need are an FM radio and A/C.

On a second thought, a 6.2/6.5 with an SM 465 would be a good substitute for the Vortec

Get outta hereeeeeeeeeeeeee. Just kidding. Square bodies are super. My preference is a 71 for a few details interior, the body & grille, some details under the hood and of course "Disc Brakes" My favorite body is probably a 67.

There's one of these locally, same color. VERY clean, patiently waiting for the next owner. It's sat in front of the owners house for two decades now, never seems to move. I've never seen the owner, but I'm thinking about bothering his windshield with a note.

Re: Describe your ideal build -- with one caveat...

Mine would be my currently daily driven 72 GM 4x4 with a major refresh.
First (and I'm slowly doing this now) would be to fix the butcher job body work that has been done to it and a full repaint.
Next is rebuild the factory engine that burns a quart of oil a week and reseal the transmission and transfer case.
Last (and I wanna do this soon!) is get rid of the ugly aftermarket steering wheel and Dodge Dakota seats and go back to stock.

75k, i would drop the truck off at Fat Fender Garage and ask for a wolf in sheeps skin Restomod, basically stock looking with all the components brought up to date with the latest and greatest.
