Question Dodge Ram Stereo

Anybody removed the factory stereo from an 06 - 07 Dodge ram? I tore into it some today and it seams like I have to take the dash COMPLETELY apart! I mean, all the way over to the passenger door! Hopefully I am missing something. By the way, mine is a 6speed diesel with the floor shift transfer case if that makes a difference to anybody. Any suggestions?

Re: Dodge Ram Stereo

Ask and you shall receive! This is how far I got last night then I quit for fear of breaking something. I am a pretty advanced stereo/electronics guy. Been kind of out of it for the last couple of years though. I was looking around on some other forums and it seams like you have to pull out all the stuff that I have already pulled, then the entire center section (the wood trim along with the grey around the AC controls) will come out. Most of this info was for automatics that had a different kind of floor console, I’m sure they are the same approach though. I took some screws out of this panel from the bottom, but it still won't budge. I’m sure that something pops off using those little clips or something. Everything seems pretty tight; I don’t want to just pull on it. Hopefully someone will make me feel dumb and just tell me that the wood grain pops off or something. Thanks!

Re: Dodge Ram Stereo

The bezel circled is one piece that snaps on REALLY tight, it MIGHT have two screws coming up from the bottom just to the inside of the cigar lighter and power outlet. About 50% of the trucks have the screws - only way to know for sure is take it apart and look.

Re: Dodge Ram Stereo

Thanks guys. Yeah, elsewere on the web I found out about the screws. Thats why I took it all apart, mine does have them. I guess all thats left for me to do is grow some balls and pull on the panel. I just wanted to confirm this before I started breaking things. I love this board! It has answers for EVERYTHING! While we are on a roll, anybody every altered the Dodge factory Uconnect Blutooth system to work with an aftermarked stereo?

Re: Dodge Ram Stereo

If you can't get it later today I am going to being gong to Union to see some friends of mine. A sister is a repairman in the truck plant and can probably give me an idea what you are up against taking it out. Doubt that she would know the other about the connections. I will see if I can get ahold of her this afternoon.

Re: Dodge Ram Stereo

I appreciate the help. I actually got the panels pulled apart. It was a SOB to get those clips to let go but I eventually got it. Now I am trying to figure out how to connect my factory bluetooth and sirius radio antenna to an aftermarket setup. I will let everyone know how it goes. Thanks again!

Re: Dodge Ram Stereo

Yeah I have done the stereo swap in my cavy and theres a ton of those plastic snap pieces. I felt like I was going to brake the damn thing apart but did not and it came out in one piece! Good luck hope it goes well.

No its a 6 speed, not an auto, otherwise yes the trans and the Cummins are the reason that I bought the thing in the first place. The doors will probably fall off and the paint start to peel, but I know I can trust the drivetrain.
