Does it make sense to go with 6" kick panel speakers?

hey guys. Close to the end of my build. Coming up on my stereo. I now have AutoSound USA-630 (240 watts). I also have 4 - 8" sub box that fits behind the seat where the tank was. I also have some 6x9's that I plan to install in the doors. Does it make sense to add the AutoSound kick panels with the speakers in them? (I would go with the upgraded Pioneer 6" speakers) alon with the dash speakers? Or is the 6X9 enough in the door?

I also plan on adding an amp.

Thanks in advance...

Re: Does it make sense to go with 6" kick panel speakers?

Imo, you need good mids and highs on the front channel, good mids and highs on the rear, and some low end bass.

For me, I like 6.5"s in front, 3 ways or components, 3 way 6x9 in rear, and a single sub, 10" works well for all but the hardest hitting bass.

I run all mids and highs of a 4 channel amp and sub off a single amp.

Now, with your setup, 4 8's are going to give a lot of mid bass, not much low end, so you can supplement with some better highs. 6x9s in doors, and center high speakers will probably do well, if matched to amp.

You could add some kick panle mounted 6" but, I don't think you really need it.

But, I would not have recommended 4 8's, so if it is wow factor, add the 6" as well.

Re: Does it make sense to go with 6" kick panel speakers?

I'm not a fan of 6x9's in general and didn't want to cut up my doors. I did 6.5's in custom kicks tucked into the vent hole with a tweet high in the door (made a pod the aims the tweet). The pre-fab kicks are nice, too. It cost me about $25 to make mine.

Kick panel isn't mounted in this pic and I still need to install my speakers. Tweeter goes in the pod above the window crank.

Re: Does it make sense to go with 6" kick panel speakers?

Thanks for the response guys!!! I went ahead and ordered the 6" kick panels w/ the upgraded speakers they sell. I'll see what those sound like. If needed, I'll add the 6x9 in the door. Rather not cut holes in the doors, but we'll see.

By the way, I got the speaker box with the 8" holes along with the speakers for free for painting a motorcycle tank. The place across from me builds speaker boxes and sells them around the country, so they're pretty good boxes! The box I got was made to fit directly where the gas tank was behind the seat.

Jimmydean-Good job on the pods you made!

Re: Does it make sense to go with 6" kick panel speakers?

Thanks. Here's what they looked like before I wrapped the door panel in vinyl.

The tweets had a ring I removed.

And the tweet mounts flush behind.

A little different. I was bored.

The kicks will improve the sound quality tremendously. If you can avoid it, I wouldn't even do the speakers in the doors at all.

Thanks! I'll go with the 6" to start with and go from there.
