55.2-59 Help ID'ing leafs - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Any ideas what these may be - i.e are they helper leafs ?

~ 44" eye to eye.

I got them with the truck ..... and have been sitting in corner.
Deciding on if to throw them out, use for art - or put on my truck ......

well thinking about it - cant be helper leafs with the eyelets ...... so now not really sure at all unless they were front.

2 leafs - weird.

They may have come off the rear axle donor. Or a rear axle donor for one of the seller's other projects.

Or you ended up with his material supply for his forge and fire knife project.

Think Ill just keep them if I have room and make the wife something "arty" with the welder.

Looking at info on GM Heritage center's 57 page your springs are 31.88 eye to eye on the front and 41.52 eye to eye on the rear so those don't fit either end.

That makes them either candidates for a crafts project or maybe springs for a small trailer if you were inclined to build one. Still trailer springs for small trailers are so cheap it isn't productive to try to adapt other springs.

Not sure what they came from but they're not '55.2-59 factory springs. The eyelet is wrapped or curled in the wrong direction as well.

They don't front nor rear of an AD or TF 3000 series truck. I checked lengths on both earlier.

I guess if you don't live far away and are on good terms with the seller you could ask if they are missing a couple of springs that go to another project. They look like a pair of Posie's They look like their Dual flex springs but aren't early F100 as they are too long. The F100 spring I have out in the shed being just a tad over 30 inches eye to eye.

They look a bit like trailer springs. Is that box in the background for the springs? Any #'s on the box?

He may end up with one project too many if he decides to use them to build a trailer.

If they are 2 inches wide they might come pretty close to the measurements for 57/60 F100 front springs This being a replacement for a stock spring https://www.sdtrucksprings.com/index...oducts_id=9651

if cutting them apart and looking for a project that doesn't take all day, old leaf sections can be made into autobody slappers pretty easily. cut a handle profile, leave a longer section between the actual slapper portion and the handle, then cut that out. next heat up the middle part of the handle section, like close to the slapper part, and bend it so when you are using the slapper your knuckles don't hit the surface of the body panel. the wider slapper part is easily polished up and smoothed to work well especially if you have a belt sander. try to balance the tool so you work less to control the tool. don't make the slapper too big. I made one and it works awesome but I made it too big so it isn't balanced well. still use it all the time.

those springs don't have much arc to them, possibly why they weren't re-used.
