Been cleaning up around the house. I knew I had several of these scattered around but never had them all in one place until today... Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Together at last.
Man I wish I had 6 in one place. I probably have that many but I can never find one when I need it.

Re: Together at last.
When the day finally comes and I finish the shop (massive storage area upstairs) and I clean out the house and attached garage, I expect to find no less than 20 of those. It's happened before, and I'm down to one I can randomly find every few days.

Re: Together at last.
I use a tape measure at least 5 days a week. I know where all my tapes are whether in the house, shop, truck or van.
One of the few things I can keep track of.

Re: Together at last.
Good thing you got a picture of them. Probably be the last time they are like this. It's amazing how a neon colored tape measure can go missing right in front of you. I'm chasing them all the time

Re: Together at last.
When you don't take one out of the package, its cause you know that you have 5 others and might return it!

Re: Together at last.
I last bought a neon yellow measuring tape. The "chrome" and high-visibility ones have shape-changing abilities and are hard to find. One of my sons has a yellow one, just like mine. When I mentioned it, he said, "That's yours!".
My collection is sanding blocks. Every time I go to do paint work, I can't find "it" and go buy another...then I find "it". "It"= 6 of 'em. I just went and looked in the drawer where I keep them, and found 2. So, 4 are AWOL, but at least I have 2 to use.

Re: Together at last.
I only have one, and it gets used often so I keep it in sight at all times. Survival technique for the forgetful...

I learned this some 40 years ago, when working at a gas station. Back then, you still had to sign a carbon paper type credit card slip when buying gas. We still had "full service" pumps too. But my point was about keeping ahold of an ink pen. The cheap disposable ones get away from you in a hurry, you can lose several in a shift. I bought an expensive Cross pen. It was one of those fancy twist style ones instead of the usual clicker, cost me something like $40 (in the early 80s) but I never lost it. When you hand something like that to a customer, you don't take your eyes off of it. Same with sunglasses for riding my motorcycle. I would see guys buy cheap, gas station glasses every weekend. I bought a $120 pair of Oakleys. Still have them to this day. 90 maybe 91? They don't even make "Blades" anymore, do they?

Re: Together at last.
I have a 16 footer in our drunk drawer in the mud room. It was my first tape measure as an apprentice in 1984. It's a Craftsmen. Every one I bought after that was a Stanley.
