There was one of those up Spring Creek above Almont, CO.

I delivered a half-load (by special request) of firewood logs up there one time. That little vacation neighborhood apparently never trimmed a tree. I just about tore my loader hydraulic hoses off on low branches. Guy said: "I didn't expect you to have this kind of equipment." I wonder what he thought was going to deliver 20' long logs ???

Re: Funny Road Signs

During our quick trip to Atlanta over the weekend we hit some rough road somewhere down south. They had it flagged with a "bump" sign.

I suggested a better sign would be "Michigan Roads Ahead".

Well the deal was that my standard load was "five cords" or 4' x 8' x 20' but this guy didn't want that much so since it was fairly close and no highway driving I agreed to bring him a half-load, half-price.

My rig was a GMC C50 "semi" with a log trailer and a home built log loader. The valve handles stuck up probably two feet above the top of the cab. The boom would have been higher than that with the grapples sitting on top of a full load (I had a cross-over relief valve on the swing for driving loaded) but with half a load it was lower than that.

Anyway, the guy was nice and paid me and seemed happy with his logs but I was sure cringing as I was breaking branches with my hydraulic valves

At least you weren't breaking hydraulic valves with branches.

I was afraid that was going to happen but it would have been pretty hard to literally "back out" on the deal.

Re: Funny Road Signs

Yeah, googoo maps has some real bloopers. I have a friend that got directed into a cornfield (didn't drive in) and to a really steep drop-off, almost a cliff (didn't go over it, though). I absolutely despise it when my wife turns that direction voice on. I can get anywhere with a map, and I really don't like when it tells me to turn left, 15 feet from the intersection.

I remember reading these signs as a kid ,,and looking forward while riding in my folks car on trips down highway 30 for the next bunch of farmers fence posts where these signs many times were held up by to read more
