Opinions On Roll Cage/Bar - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I'd like to get opinions on what to do with the roll cage in my "new" Blazer.

First question is should I cut off all the taped up foam padding and run just the bare tube, and not worry about bumping my head in the case of an accident?

Second question is should I cut off the rear section, just leaving just a 6-point cage, cut off the rear and front sections leaving just a 4-point roll bar, or leave it as is?

i like it the way it is. half cage dont look as good to me but thats my opinion. would still look good with only front part

absolutely leave it alone. you know that if you start cutting it up things will snoball into a bigger project than you expected plus it looks as though that cage was built for safety and any cutting would compromise its strength but thats my opinion.

remove the foam everywhere except above your head. Does that lower dash bar interfere with your knees while driving?

Bare tube and leave it alone! Just my 2 cents! Looks like a good "family" cage. Does the hard top fit over it?, it doesen't look like it would. I like it though!

Yes the hard top fits over it. No the front bar does not interfere with your knees while driving. I think I might start by unwrapping and removing the foam.

That's a good looking ole Blazer you got!
I like the cage as is, just take some of the padding & tape off. If for nothing else, to see what's really under there.

Sweet cage as is. I would take all that tape and padding off if it were mine though.

I wish I had a cage like that. Take the foam off and see if you like it. I know it can come in handy, but maybe something thinner.

It's up to you but make sure you get rid of that ugly after market steering wheel!

You might also want to replace that brake under the l/rear tire

I would take off all the tape and foam. If the welds lookgood I would keep it.

just leave it alone.... ya know the first time you bump your head youll be cussing yourself out that ya didnt leave the foam in place.... lol
