Well guys, thanks for all the input and what-not.

Hotrod70C10, I was kinda leaning twards doing something like you did, on your truck, the center console thing, except with a bench seat. How do you like it, does it work good, I know it looks good!

There is no way im cutting the dash, almost everything on that truck is origional. My grandpa gave it to me a while back, I know he doesn't want me to cut it anyways.

I have also thought about mounting it under the dash like Dubie, and 1970 Blazin, That would proabally be easier. The only thing is if I have 3 people in there, Im afraid that it might get hit.

I noticed that most of the interiors in the posted pic's looked really good, better than mine. How much does it cost to get the interior re-painted? (just in a ballpark)

Son, I applaud you for your respect for your grandfather and your truck. As you've seen there are many alternatives to cutting your dash for those wishing not to do so.

Post some pics of your truck please!

Build a small custom console that attaches to the screws that hold the ashtray in.Or that sits on the floor in front of your bench seat.Install the CD and any sound system components in it and put the speakers in it facing out.If you use the kickpanel mounts for speakers then you could use 4;2 in console and 2 in the kickpanels.Wire everything with trailer connectors to make it easily removable and portable.

I plan on using a Kenwood tape player to control my Kenwood 10 disc changer under the seat.

Btw Welcome to the board from South Mississippi! Post some pics of your truck.

Ya, Im proabally going to either put a custom center console in, or mounting it under the dash.

Is there any way, other than behind the seat, to put 8, or 10" sub's in the cab?

I havent been able to get my buddie over to take some pics of it with a digital camera, and my scanner is down right now. I will try to have some pics up a.s.a.p.

Harley57, Thanks for the compliments! The console is great as an armrest right now. I haven't gotten around to finishing it up. I need to install some cup holders and install a sheet of metal on top color matched to the rest of the truck. Well, atleast what the rest of the truck will be painted as... lol. If you end up putting a console in your truck you could build it as a subwoofer box.
Repainting the interior for me was really cheap. My old man set me up with all of my paint. I prepped and stripped the inside and covered the pedals (except the e-brake.... I wasn't paying any attention.... and my old man got a little trigger happy before I could finish covering the heater box.... I really couldn't tell you a price though.

Oh hey CPNE, I had a reason to cut my dash, The truck was already a non stock color... Just think, once every dash is cut you guys without cut dashes are going to be rich.

CD player

I like the CD player in the glove box Becouse you can not see it if you don't what some one to see it.

But it does look good at the bottom of the dash.

You just need to let your mind work on this one.

HotRod70C10, I do like your truck (seats and all) very much. I really don't care who does what but it sure is fun to come across to the contrary and see the reactions!

Happy holidays to you and family!

Thank you! I know, it's all in good fun. Isn't that the reason we're all here? I don't think the board would be the same without the great boz-all!
Happy holidays to you and your family also!

I have a defence for hacking my dash! I thought about the underdash mount too, but then discovered that I couldn't shift into 4-low without whacking the shifter off the radio. In retrospect, I kinda wish I hadn't cut it, and found out another way to mount the deck......oh well

I'm still in high school and i have shop classes. Im building a custom center console for my 1972 chevy. It has two cup holders, and room for my cd player. Im almost done. Im going to cover it with bondo and paint it with ppg paint.
