I like my Magnaflow. 18" long body, oval, dual 2.5 in, single 3" out. Great sound, no drone.

Re: Mufflers/LS 5.3

I have Hooker street rod 'shorties", & run mandrel bent downs. 2 1/2" pipe/H pipe, & 50's Flows , set as far back as possible. The tail pipes exit straight out back (also 2 1/2 "). The truck has an awesome sound....mellow @ idle , or cruise, but barks pretty hard ,when "danced on" With a 3.42 rear gear/.76 OD, on the hyway(at proper speeds), mellow, no drown. Longhorn

Re: Mufflers/LS 5.3

We used a cheap jegs pair # 300012
http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS-Performan...00012/10002/-1
It sounds good when you romp it and quite when its at idle with a little rumble

Re: Mufflers/LS 5.3

Borla if you can find them Cheap/Used, Not sure I would pay retail for them, I have one on my 5.3L Camaro. Quiet tone at idle...Gets louder when you step on it.

I had some Magnaflows on my old '70 C10 (400hp 350).....Didn't care for the sound....Too raspy & loud for me.

50 series Flowmasters are good, What I had on my '70 before they rusted out after 8 years or so. If you daily driving it....This probably won't be an issue.

Not much experience with Dynomax.

I've got Dmax race bullets on my 6.0, and I enjoy the sound, but its by no means quiet.

Re: Mufflers/LS 5.3

I have run flowmaster 44's, or flowmaster 40's, or flowmaster 10's, or magnaflow 14" duals. they all have different sounds and different features. it really depends on what you are looking for. best advice is to go to youtube and watch/listen to videos of other guys mufflers and decide for your self.

Re: Mufflers/LS 5.3

I thought I was buying magnaflows off ebay for mine but when I got them there was no name anywhere on the muffler..they are 2 1/2" stainless.. I went back and looked at the ad and it said magflow..not magnaflow..I tried them anyway and am pleased with the sound behind my 6.0..not overly loud but has a nice rumble to it. I have mine turned down in front of the axle also.

Re: Mufflers/LS 5.3

I just put the MagnaFlows on mine and do no like the glass pack like sound at all. I'll probably end up swapping them out for FlowMasters.

Re: Mufflers/LS 5.3

I have Mangnaflow's dual 2.75' into a single 4", long oval body muffler on my 03 6.0 and it sounds good in the cab but I heard my wife step on it when she took off in it the other day and I didn't like it, real raspy.

I have 2 dynomax 2.5" super turbos on my 69 that I will use on my 5.3 conversion that were on the 350 I pulled and they were perfect! Flow rates and sound make me wonder why I use anything else. They are real quiet at idle and aggressive when you push the go pedal, all while being able to move allot of air so they don't become a restriction.

Most of the Flowmasters I have been around all drone, but that could be to tail pipe length and have little to do with the muffler.

Re: Mufflers/LS 5.3

I know several that swear by MagnaFlow. One of them owns a muffler shop. I have personally ran DynoMax Super Turbos in the past. Now I enjoy OEM quietness after selling my last truck with an 18" glass pack.

Re: Mufflers/LS 5.3

I'm itching to try a pair of 9444 spintech mufflers. From all the sound clips I have heard they make even a small cam sound like nasty popcorn, ahhh I love that sound !

https://youtu.be/IGTsqpk0rEk, don't know the cam size but most all YouTube clips have that crackle.
