I need you help to make up my mind

I just got offered a deal.
2004 yukon 5.3 4l60 complete and still running with disk brake rear end.
truck wrecked in the front, guy bought for the interior.
will let me take the whole truck minus interior for 1300.00
120k miles and still strong
is this a good deal? will this truck have everything i need. Im assuming the tank and gas pedal are needed for the conversion as well as the wiring and computer.
I know theres a how to on here somewheres, I havent given the conversion any real thought as i just put the carbed 350 and 700r in my truck. but fuel injection would be real nice to have......
will the rear end work well in my truck? will the fuel sender fit in my lmc rear tank?

Re: I need you help to make up my mind

the motor, tranny, wiring and computer are worth the asking price. scrap the rest for additional funds.

Re: I need you help to make up my mind

The track width on most of the newer rear ends doesn't quite fit these trucks, but it has been made to work.

Its not a terrible price, but if its wrecked in front...you might be losing out on radiator/oil cooler/ac stuff, as well as risking damage to the front pulleys etc. Have you been able to see the extent of the damage?

You don't HAVE to change anything. Hydroboost ps pumps can be used without the hydroboost system, just as a normal pump.

Re: I need you help to make up my mind

ok thats good but i might do it for the added benefits ( if there is any)
well i guess i could sell the rear end.
i havent seen it yet but the engine still runs so im guessing the pulleys are good and the rad doesnt leak. but even so i have a damn good 4 core in my truck now. so is 1300 a good deal then if the engine computer harness trans and gas tank are comoplete and in good condition still? ill post pic as soon as i see it.
br3w city: MKE.. is that milwaukee?

Re: I need you help to make up my mind

$1300 isn't a bad price. Like said above, you can sell off the parts your not going to use from the donor truck to fund thing like motor mounts ect. You will not need the fuel tank from the donor.

Thats a good buy. You can make a lot of your money back selling parts.

Re: I need you help to make up my mind

That ain't no wreck, its a fender bender. sounds like a great deal. Try to sell as much parts as possible but I wouldn't scrap it with what scrap yards are now paying around here ($3.50 a hundred)

Re: I need you help to make up my mind

Did you get the title with it?
Around here you can NOT scrap a vehicle without a title
There is enough parts there to get your money back and have a engine and trans for a little bit of labor

Re: I need you help to make up my mind

I pretty much sold body parts, interior, etc. I recommend if you THINK you need it, keep it. You can always sell it later if you don't end up using it.

But I would start with:

Complete engine with wiring harness, exhaust manifolds, downpipes
complete transmission (if 2WD)
driveshaft
rear end (if you are going to do that conversion)
Exhaust (handy for adapting exhaust unless you are going to completely replace it)
I also kept the dash harness and cut it up to get the wiring I needed to adapt everything to my truck. Keep all hoses, wiring, radiator, lines. Other stuff to keep: brake rotors, cats, brake calipers, brake master and booster, wiper motors. This stuff brings good money as cores at an auto recycling facility. Also the pedal bracket under the dash is a big piece of cast aluminum, I kept this to turn in as scrap.
