CNC + Boredom = Custom Shift Knob

Played around on my mill today and this is the result. I modeled it after the original knob on my truck and scaled it up a bit. Enjoy.

That's pretty awesome!

It is just for looks, or is it functional (can be screwed onto shifter handle).

If I had a floor mounted shifter, I'd hit you with a request.

Re: CNC + Boredom = Custom Shift Knob

That looks awesome. My only complaint about aluminum shift knobs is that they get so hot.

Re: CNC + Boredom = Custom Shift Knob

You should try painting the letter recesses as described in a recent thread on emblems. Basically fill the recess with paint, wipe the level area off with laquer thinner.

If they're aluminum a clear coat might prevent oxidation (clear anodizing would be better, but gets complicated).

Nice project!

Re: CNC + Boredom = Custom Shift Knob

Hey I was just wondering if something like this horn button center piece could be made on a CNC machine? I like this horn button but would love to have one made with gmc in the center instead of the bowtie.
