Dimple frame vs shimming steering box?

I know when converting to power steering on a 67 it is necessary to provide clearance for the box. However I don't have access to a torch to dimple the frame which I know is the preferred method. Has anyone shimmed the box or would this adversity affect the steering in some way?

Lots of folks have shimmed their boxes. The down side is that with the box moved over you may find that your turning circle won't be the same in both directions.

You don't need a huge divot in the frame to make it fit , if you have a cutting wheel and some map gas/ propane torch and a mig welder you can move it enough to work , You'll also have to grind some off the front core support bracket . and then get some stainless lines from Pickmup

You are assuming the frame isn’t already dimpled!
Some 67’s were.

A third option exist for power steering on a 67. Buy a cpp steering box cp50014. This thread has pictures and does a good job of explaining why this box doesn't need shimmed or a dimple made.
