I think your truck would look great with a mild drop on it. Really help to clean it all up and tie all your new stuff together real nicely.

Taking pictures of a beautiful truck is always hard, pictures never do its justice.

Haha well thats good. progress progress! I am jealous of everyone who can continue progress. but glad to see it all happening!

Re: 1985 chevy c10 swb

drove the truck home today and tried poping the hood knowing the cable was on its last leg. i pulled gently and the cable snapped. it snaped near the latch and the hood is still shut...

got a new cable. triped the latch open

Hey what do you have to do to put your head unit there? For some reason mine is up in my headliner but its retarded. I just am not sure how it installs in the dash. Do you just cut it, put the metal tray thing in, and slide the head unit in, thats it?

what i did was took that gauge bezel out and took the metal cage that holds the radio made a outline of it on the bezel where i wanted it and used dremel tool to cut out. once i cut it out i put the bezel back on ( metal on dash wasnt cut yet) put a couple of screws in to hold it in place then outlind the dash where it needed to be cut. took the bezel back off. cut the metal top and bottom then fold the sides inward.. put the plastic bezel back on slid the metal cage in and bent the tabs around the metal to hold it in place. slide the radio in and put trim peice on. i had also painted the metal cage black so it isnt noticeable if it was.

u dont have to have a very neat of a cut on the gauge bezel because the radios trim peice should cover the edges.

Re: 1985 chevy c10 swb

You may consider getting the 6x9 speaker brackets that Jeff, bigblock73, sells. Then making a box like you designed for a sub and amp. Also you will want to check the depth of the 12" subs. I had one behind my old 84's seat, and I notched out the box, and recessed it, and still had to scoot the seat up. Just something to keep in mind if you are tall like myself.

yea ive been looking at mostly shallow mount subs. ive seen a guy with 4 memphis 10 inch subs behind the seat. im 6'0 and i have the seat clicked 2nd to last click. not much room behind the seat. trying to get a few ideas.

You have pics of ur subwoofer box?

Re: 1985 chevy c10 swb

No pics of it. I just built it out of scrap plywood, and made it as shallow as possible. It was just a basic box, nothing fancy. If I had it to do over again I would have went with 10" subs, but when you're young you don't always think things through.
