steering column lower bushing adapter

Not much info on this forum for this subject so... For those who choose to keep their original steering column but have a later model steering box or rack & pinion, I had 5 extra flanged bushings made that fit into the stock steering tube & have a 0.820 hole for centering the original steering shaft. I know these fit the 47 to 54 columns, but not sure about other years. These make it easy to keep the look of the stock column & steering wheel. If interested, PM me for additional info.

What are they made of?Looks like delren or nylon.

Make sure that your steering shaft is all lined up perfectly to operate smoothly with the bushing. I made a similar one for my 51 Mercury 20 something years ago and had the steering shaft in a bit of a bind and it was the pits to steer. The bushing isn't as forgiving as a ball bearing would be in most cases.

I'm not against, the "#CPBCS - Billet Steering Column Saver" just the $70.00 it costs, & the 1.75" OD was too big for my 51 column (& 1.5" is too small) & I was not crazy about options of machining / swelling or centerning with set screws. My cheap nylon bushing has been working perfect since 2007. (& over 10,000 miles). Just a cost effective alternitive that cost me only $35..
