I welded angle iron to the square tube and then bolted it to the holes for the doors. It worked out good had to re-adjust the engine mounts to give it more center of balance.

The best part is when its all done your Son will have so much more appreciation for the truck and will take better care of it. So many people I've known just buy their kids nice stuff and don't make them work for it at all. Then all you get is the majority of them beating the crap out of the vehicle and having no remorse when it blows up or gets crashed. Nice job and great lessons learned, Life and trades experience.
Thanks,
I agree 100% this is the only way i was gonna help buy a vehicle for my son.

Set the cab down onto the chassis today. Big step toward finishing the truck. Even put the cab mounts in.

Re: 1968 Gmc ground up restoration

Did a little work on the truck Friday. got the door all lined up to work on the cab corner and rocker panel. the gap between the fender and door didn't line up straight looks like a noodle.

You've got a good eye for alignment there Tim, really appreciate the smart use of "what you've got on hand for tools" too.

We worked on getting the cab corner and rocker panel installed. Still need to remove the door to finish welding rocker panel and more welding on the cab corner.

You guys are doing a fanastic job! Just one question on the cab, what are you going to do with the 3 holes that are above the radio section?

Picked up 2 almost rust free doors and 2 new skins. The p/o sanded the doors and never primed them so lots of surface rust.
