Re: 1969 C10 SWB - Big Block project

I have been busy today organizing all the parts that are at my house for Chad's truck. We are planning a work day on Saturday to begin bringing this C10 back to life.

I also bead blasted the brake booster bracket and repainted it. It looks much better!

Re: 1969 C10 SWB - Big Block project

Some progress on the truck from Saturday...

After cleaning some of the body shop dust from under the hood, Chad and I installed all the new CST side trim, new headlights and new headlight bezels. We also took the time to adjust the inner fenders for a better fit. They are perfect now!

We took inventory on the parts that we had restored over the last few months and found a few cool parts that we had forgotten about. The under cowl wiper assembly had been media blasted, but needs finished. The wiper motor needed new rubber insulators before we could mount it. The parking brake mechanism is restored, but we wanted to wait until the DynaMat and carpet goes in before we install it.

We were taking our time to make sure we don't scratch the fresh paint. The 97° degree heat cut our day short, but progress is progress!

Re: 1969 C10 SWB - Big Block project

Hey Guys,

Chad is headed to Baton Rouge, LA this morning with a group of men from his church. They are going down to help the folks that lost so much in the flood these past few weeks. They have taken several U-Haul trucks and trailers filled with generators, chain saws, shovels, and needed essentials to help with the clean up and rebuilding. They expect to be in the Baton Rouge area all next week.

Keep him and the church members in your prayers this week.

Thank you chad. We didn't have any real issues in our area. I be never met Chad face to face but I can tell this is a stand up man. Glad to see the truck coming along so nicely too.

Re: 1969 C10 SWB - Big Block project

Update on Chad down in Baton Rouge... they have helped a lot of good folks including an 84 year old man who lost his home, business and all belongings. Today they are gutting several flooded homes including one belonging to a Veteran with 3 tours in Afganistan.

I went up to Chad's this morning and installed the new grille hoops, dividers, parking lights and bow tie emblem. The truck is starting to get a little personality.

I have all the measurements he used if it will help you. This one is 18in off the ground. I still need to drill the holes for the body mounts and I'll probably paint it.. But it's stout ! He is a very good welder, and made this in about an hour and a half.

Hey, I would also be interested in the measurements if you would be so kind to post them up. Nice build. Thanks in advance.

Chad borrowed the measurements for the cab dolly from forum member "Misled". I have attached his photo from the original post. Any thanks should go to Misled.

We are finished with Chad's cab dolly. Not sure how far away Riedsville NC is from Chattanooga TN, but if you want it, it yours. No charge. It has been outside for awhile, so it is not quite as pretty as it was in the photo.

Re: 1969 C10 SWB - Big Block project

Hi Guys. Chad and I have been facing a lot of adversities over the past few months. The light at the end of the tunnel actually turned out to be an oncoming train.

We are back on the truck now, and basically have a HUGE model car to assemble. The rear disc brakes are installed, as well as the driver side Porter Built C-Notch, upper shock bar, new brake hard lines, brake hoses and track bar. We just ordered a '69 Camaro gas tank, fuel sender, front and rear bumpers and bumper bolt kits.

Once we finish up the rear suspension it will be time to install the bed. It will look more like a truck then!
