We bought our Jeep from a CL ad, but it was posted by a dealer in the city - so it was basically just a normal deal. Been looking at a 1990 K1500 by a dealer on a CL ad but haven't been to see it yet for obvious reasons.

Ten or twelve years ago I bought a saddle through CL from a lady in Georgia or Florida or someplace. Worked just fine; we communicated by email and I sent her a check and she shipped the saddle. But that was almost the "good old days" compared to now

Bought it on CL, and actually sold it on CL too, 9 years later.

We all have our CL horror stories. But in all honesty I have dealt with some very decent people as well. Both while buying or selling something. They're still out there. You just have to weed through the deadbeat scammers to find them. It's like dating. You get the good and the...Eh...Not so good.

Dukk. That is a cool hearse. I'm guessing it's a 1966 Crown Sovereign Landau. I could be wrong. I often am.

They are fun to drive. Everyone gets out of your way for some reason. I've had people pull over for me.

I usually roll it with my German Shepherd in back. I don't need to lock the doors. No one gets near it.

Everybody gets out of your way? You've obviously never driven to a cemetery from a church in LA. I'll admit that it was only a couple funerals, but people cut off the motor officers, drove in front of the hearse at intersections, etc. No respect for the dead, in LA.

I swear to god they pull over. I was shocked myself as someone that grew up in L.A. and know only too well how these people drive out here.

I used to drive by Rose Hills every day when I commuted to work. It's a really huge cemetery. With lots of funerals. But I never noticed anyone cutting anyone off or anything. I just remember sitting there waiting for the procession to pass when they blocked traffic. Some of the dearly departed obviously had a lot of friends. Because there was a long line of cars to wait for as they poured out one after the other. I'd sit there for 20 minutes thinking I wish this person had been more unpopular.

Re: what are the new craigslists scams?

I have no horror stories. I don't know anyone, personally, who has had any issues with buyers/making sales on CL. The scam responses I attribute more to being e-mail scams, not Craigslist scams. Cyber crime is possible anytime there is e-mail involved. The defense is always the same no matter where it occurs.

As far as ill intended people using Craigslist to list items to lure buyers to rob goes, couldn't that happen buying on marketplace or any other buying/selling format involving face to face meetings? I think the area you live in plays a bigger role in that than Craigslist itself.
