Received a new Christmas Tree at a show today

Received this hand-crafted Best of Show Christmas tree trophy today. Don't know if it is a small block cam LOL, but certainly appreciative of the effort creating it. Coolest trophy I've ever received.

Thanks much. The guy who made it certainly had some artistic talent.

That’s nice. Seems like your Blazer and your work are getting good recognition. Are 67-72 trucks common there? I don’t see many here.

Re: Received a new Christmas Tree at a show today

I replied via my phone but for some reason it didn't show up. In any event thanks much. Yes, there were a couple of 67-72 pickups and five 63-65 pickups all of which were very nice. Some late model stuff too but not my style. This show is run to support childhood cancer as the guy who runs it lost his daughter to cancer about 9 years ago. He gets tremendous support from the community - 100 raffle baskets donated for example. In the years that he has run the show, they have raised and donated over $200,000. He attracts some really nice vehicles to his show, so I was totally surprised as I thought all the awards had been called and I wasn't receiving any. I am sure that there were other cars that were more deserving, but I am not giving it back . I did a 71 several years ago and it was as nice as this truck. It did well at shows, but I don't remember receiving a best of show overall with it. I think it is due to the current craze over these Blazers fueled by the auctions. In any event, it was a nice show on a hot summer day in Western New York.

If that cam has a lobe missing, it most likely came out of a 305. ;-)

Re: Received a new Christmas Tree at a show today

I've posted some photos previously - don't want people to get sick of looking at it, but I'll post a couple. I keep on saying I am going to take some photos at the shows I go too - and then I don't. I went to two shows this weekend. One in Orchard Park NY with a couple hundred vehicles and a large one right in my small town of Alden NY. I received "Best Commercial" in the Orchard Park show Saturday, and a Best of Show at the Alden Show ( they hand out lots of Best of Shows which are larger plaques with a built in clock) and lots of "Top Vehicle" plaques that are smaller and do not have the clock. Our Alden show normally gets about 5-600 vehicles. It is held on some Village streets, the entire Town Park, the High School parking lots, and a road that connects the school road to the bank. All the locations are contiguous. It is only 3/4 of a mile from my house, so I took both the Blazer and the 61 Vette up. Here is a photo of the Blazer (not at the show) and a photo of the Vette also not at the show. I promise I will start taking some photos of the shows I go to- I have no excuse.
