Re: 1969 Short Wide

I can just imagine trying to do the dash... Are you polishing the inner roof too, or are you putting a headliner in? I'd have a hard time lifting my arms after polishing the roof. That's a lot of sanding and holding the buffer above your head.

It's looking good though

I'm definitely NOT doing the dash or the roof. The dash area is very nice and the roof will have a headliner. The back of the cab had a few little dust particle that looked bad.

Builds like this make me laugh at myself for worrying over a couple of cab corners and a rocker panel. Seriously great work paying off with some color!!

Thanks. I only had a few dust particle but it drove me nuts. Plus I'm kinda at a holding pattern till the paint cures for a while longer. Then I will sand and buff all the panels. There will only be a small area that shows between the bucket seats but I would know it's there...

Thanks Keith. I was just filling a few hours. I have a lot of little projects to get done. Those darn dust particles bother me. I can't wait to get the outside sanded and polished.

Thanks Buck. Don't sweat the cab corners and rockers. Those aren't too bad. Hopefully, you don't find any hidden rust when you get into it.

Re: 1969 Short Wide

Ha, I got all anal and even polished the doorjambs! I literally thought, "What the helll am I doing? This is a fishin' truck!" Oh well, I had it out.

Looks fantastic, Mike. Can't wait to see it together. Are you gonna mount it before the shine party, or do it on the stand? I can say it's easier to clean up on the stand, but the stand moves more. Kind of a tossup.

Keep it up, you're inspiring us all!

Thanks Chip. I will do my jambs too. You see them every time you get in and out. And yes this will be a fishing truck too.
I will more than likely do the pieces I can on the stands. Those fenders are kinda hard to keep steady, but the cab, bed, and hood are so heavy I can just do them on the stands.
I would like to mount it all to the frame and do just what needs to be done. I guess I'll cross that bridge pretty soon.

You have never so much than when you are polishing something and the buffer grabs it and spits it on the floor

Paint looks beautiful. It's got to be a huge motivator to getting the truck done. I can only imagine!

No way we can let that happen. I might have to come up with a fixture to prevent it or wait till the fenders are mounted. They are the awkward pieces.

Thanks and yes I want to get it done. I've had a bunch of things come up since the paint was laid. It's okay give it a little time to cure. I will sanding and polishing soon.
