I finally picked up my '72 the end of last week. Has some of the usual rust but the drivetrain is in great shape. Took the top off the day after I picked it up(love it). The drivers rocker box is rusted out. I plan on replacing the rocker box and both rockers and I'm not sure what will come after that. The rear seat works out great for the kids!

I am going to have to find a way to remove/install the top by myself. I had a friend help and it was a little heavy for 2 people.

Good looking truck! A lot of guys rig up a deal to garage ceiling-couple of 2x4's like you have,some cable "come-alongs" and some heavy duty eye bolts........then just drive out from under!

Looks like a great Blazer just needing some tlc. Remember the rocker boxes add structural integrity for when the top is off - so if one is basically gone, going without the top could cause some tub issues.

I have four ropes tied to rafters, on the end hanging down I have a loop tied. I use two 1x1 steel tubing, fairly thick but not sure of the gauge, ends wrapped in tape to prevent scratches. I roll the windows down and place one bar through he window opening and place the 2nd one on the tailgate. I the use my back to raise the front of the top and side the bar in place and then do the same with the back bar. Once bars are in place I walk around the blazer picking up on the piece of the bar sticking out and slide the rope on. One person job, just drive out from under it.

Thanks for the advice. I will put the top back on until the rocker box is replaced. That should give me a little time to determine how I want to remove and store it.

If the top is to be off for extended times I would recommend drilling holes in your boards / tubing at the same distance as the holes in the bed sides. Just drop a bolt in place to keep the sides of the top from spanning out-ward while not in use.
If a single wall, the wrenches with the ratchet box end work the best to remove/ install side bolts. Normal socket is a little tall on the ones under the windows.

That is exactly what I used. Also, good point about putting bolts into a board to keep the top in shape.

Thanks. Yes it is a speaker box. Not sure what I'm going to do for speakers, but it will work until I figure it out.

Eventually 6" and 35s. I want to get all the body work finished first. It's not bad; need rockers and 1 rocker box. Bedsides are solid with a couple of exceptions at the bottom.
