Aftermarket Torsion Keys

Calling all users, I am getting mixed reviews on using these, I just bought an 04 2500 HD and running 285/70/17s and they rub a little when backing up turning, the truck is a little squaty in the front and I would like to lift enough for the tires not to rub. By using the aftermarket keys how much rougher will the ride be. Sorry if this one of those beat to death posts but I wasn't really seeing the answer in the search portion.
Jim

Re: Aftermarket Torsion Keys

I bought leveling keys, installed them, removed them, and threw them away. Simply crank up tension with your existing keys to where you want (since it sounds like you just want to lift the front a little, maybe to level) - get the truck realigned at your convenience, and call it a day.

Re: Aftermarket Torsion Keys

Thanks, I don't even care if level as much as clear my 285/70/17s which rub just a little when backing and turning at the same time, so I don't think I need much. How about shock length when cranking up, will I need extensions or longer shocks? or maybe I should get smaller tires like 265/70/17s

Re: Aftermarket Torsion Keys

Agreed with what was said above. The aftermarket keys are a sham, I've ran my truck for over 150k miles with cranked factory keys and never had an issue. Even have original axle shafts. You won't need shock extensions because the suspension is still within its travel range. You could benefit from a set of bilstein 5100s for it, makes a world of difference. It's odd that your 285s rub, I cleared 285/75s without even turning the keys up, then I got my 315/75s and turned the keys up most of the way and they only rub just a little.

Re: Aftermarket Torsion Keys

Thanks for the response, unfortunately I purchased some already only after seeing a neighbors truck has them with no issues, I wish I would of got these responses earlier.

Re: Aftermarket Torsion Keys

Sounds like it varies.

I had rubbing issues with 285/75-17 tires on my 2005 2500HD.
I dropped back to 265/70-17 and those fit just fine.

Re: Aftermarket Torsion Keys

Hatzie, does your truck have the torsion keys turned up or have aftermarket?

Re: Aftermarket Torsion Keys

So I bought the Motofab keys from Amazon so I guess I can return them and buy some Bilsteins, thoughts on that?

Factory turned up slightly so it's level. Doesn't matter... You can't crank them any higher than the OEM keys without changing the A-Arms for clearance.
