My dad said it stated the GVW on the door sticker to be 6200 pounds. I am gonna double check it tomorrow but if this is the case that would make me cat exempt.
You are cat exempt, checked my GM parts book and for a 77 K-10 with 305 or 350, no cats are listed.

You gotta love new parts! Looks like you scored some really solid sheet metal. Looking forward to seeing the difference it makes.

Re: The Green Monster Just an old farm truck

made some headway today. Lat night I sanded down all the rot and rust on my new doors and painted them in east woods rust encapsulater. This is all temp until I repaint the truck in spring.
parts took over the basement..

This stuff works good! now will it hold up????????

Again this is temp until spring. They would not pass the truck for safety before. I shot these with "amy green" rusto paint. Looks light to me tho not as olive drab as I had hoped. ahh well it is temp like I said.

When you want to paint and it is 19 degrees F out throw the part in the grill for a while so it gets hot. Then paint it while stilll hot. Then throw it back in to bake and turn off the grill so it slow cools. I used this to paint both my diffs and they came out good. They look real light in the pics because i drove threw some snow.

Let your gaskets soak in marvelle mystery oil before installing. Thius will help them seal up fast. Only works on oil seals but has worked great fo me so far.

Interesting finds......
The 12 bolt cover was brazed at one time. maybe a rock puncture??? It had no fluid in it but All seemed fine and I think it slowly leaked out from sitting. I used some RTV in that area to ensure it would not leak.
lol i painted my diff cover that color too

We will see. I could defiantly clear 33's but would love to switch to a 4 inch and 35's. My truck is a "big ten" which is actually more like a 3/4 ton then a half ton. WE will see tho. She eats the gas and could possibly get traded or sold for a boat or older project.....

But the plan as of now is to get her all painted, convert to part time 4x4, twin stick np203, sm465 swap, 33's offroad!!!!!!

Re: The Green Monster Just an old farm truck

When you redo the rocker pannel you might want to consider buying a patch pannel. I would ditch the flux core wire too. If you were using solid core wire with an argon mix gas the patch you did would look better. Flux core is just too hot for sheet metal. The truck is looking good. I like the dark green paint.

Thanks. I was going really quick just getting something on there kinda deal. I found with a higher wire speed and the lowest setting I got pretty decent welds with the flux on this thin metal. But yeah some new cab panels will be in the future and I already have the gas conversion kid just need to get some gas.

That old bed you have left would make a neat little utility trailer. I always wanted a LWB bed that matched my truck, wheels and all.

That would be cool. We did that one time with the old bed from my old '62 chevy stepside, since the floor was gone in the bed and the trailer had a good one, we were all set.
