Thanks, haven't been doing much to it lately found the motor spun a bearing, so its been sitting in the yard. Last sat my dad and I started reassymbling the motor that came out of this originally (the one we thought spun a bearing but was blown head gaskets causing compression to go into other cylinders). So since we tore it apart to check everything we decided to order new bearings, rings, can, lifter, oil pump and gaskets. We got the crank, pistons, can and timing chain installed. This weekend we will get some more done.

No pics

but while the burb has been sitting I ran the power and video cable for the back up camera through the pass a-pillar across the roof down the d-pillar and out the rear quarter hole for wiring to the camera installed on the license plate. And instead of hooking it all up to work when I'm in reverse I hooked it up to a toggle switch so I can choose when I want to use it.

Installed blue LEDs in the gauge cluster, mounted a power distribution block from a 90's Chevy on the pass fender to remove all of the wires that I have been adding to the battery, also mounted my voltage sensing relay for my dual battery setup I am planing. So when all said and done my main battery will have only 1 power wire on it running to the starter then my power wire running to the original fuse block and all my additional power wires will run off the secondary battery.

Re: twistedchevys build

Bought me a 1970 k10 burb today

Here is the craigslisr description:
Selling a project 1970 Chevy suburban K20. This is a project truck, does not run and is not put together. Needs motor. There is a 307 sitting in it but not bolted in.307 does run just needs to be finished put together(cap, rotor, plugs, wires, hoses etc..). does need a new exhaust manifold. Truck has 3-30gallon gas tanks(1 main and 2 saddle tanks). truck was a daily driver until the 350 that was in it ended up with a cracked block. 4wheel drive works. Truck does need work on the inside. And could use some body work. When she did run, per the previous owner, never had a problem with her in the 9 years he owned it. had issues with the main gas tank at one time but just switched to one of the saddle tanks. The truck does not have a complete interior. The back windows were removed by the previous owner and he but in sheet metal. The rivets can be removed and glass can be put in. Need it gone, cash talks!

This a super hard truck to find, 4x4 are in demand and very hard to find.

Please only serious buyers, you will have to tow or haul it.

The body is in pretty bad shape, my plans are to swap bodies. I'm a little sad that it is actually a k10 and not a k20 like posted but I'll manage until I can upgrade, which hopefully will be soon to get rid of the drum brake front end.

Re: twistedchevys build

Yesterday I bolted the engine to the bell housing, bolt the torque converter to the flex plate, engine to the engine stands, replace the broken spark plugs, installed the dist cap, installed the oil psi line, installed the starter, made a temp starter wire, ground wire, dist power wire and a starter signal wire, hooked up a couple of vacuum hoses, the throttle linkage, turned the engine over by hand felt like good compression, tried the starter it worked and hooked up some of the janky fuel lines to the driver saddle tank that had gas.

Today I but spark plug wires on it, sprayed some brake clean down the carb and fired her up while spraying brake clean down the carb until the fuel pump got gas out of the tank up to the carb.

The motor needs a temp sensor, its missing from the head, alternator and brackets, fan and pulley to be bolted on, radiator hoses, water and carb tuning to run for long periods of time but IT RUNS. And the oil psi gauge works. Was reading a little over middle.

Now the dilemma. I'm thinking I may want to keep it and have 2 burbs, one 4wd and one 2wd.

Re: twistedchevys build

Going to DMV tomorrow to get a sticker for my Honda, first was stolen or lost. While at DMV I'm going to see how much it will cost to put the red burb in my name, if it isn't to much I will keep it and have 2 burbs. If it costs too much I will take the 2 and merge them.

Re: twistedchevys build

Haven't done anything to the burb; ive been helping my dad get our 70 pick up ready for Hot August Nights, its a huge event all about cars held the the beginning of august in reno.

We have been fixing all our little issues, this will be the first time we have driven the truck this far in 1 trip.

We are going up with family though with a 56 Chevy bel air with a 96 tahoe ls motor in it and a 64 international pick up with a 02 suburban ls motor and both have vintage air in them. My familys shop got a distribution contract with vintage air

So we installed one in the 70 pick up still finishing it up but we started on Friday

Heater box removed and block off plate installed

New assymble installed under the dash

My dad getting ready to drill the holes

Everything done on the inside

The awsome glove box(not)

Re: twistedchevys build

Put a 350 we rebuilt back in the burb to get it running, I have close to 700 miles now and this motor seems good, I just bought some airplane style 3 point seat belts for a truck and put them in the back so my daughter has a shoulder belt. Other then that things are still slow, with wanting to do a bunch of stuff to multiple trucks you have to pick and choose and wait.

I did pick up a mark lV 454 and a Gen 5 454. I'm think the mark lV will be carb'd and going in my 70 burb (easier to run a carb with 3 gas tanks) and if I can't find a Gen 6 block when engine funds become available I will put the heads and intake from the 96 454 onto the Gen 5 and drop it in this burb.

Re: twistedchevys build

Wow, I haven't updated this for a long time, I still have the burb.

Put a fitech on it, constantly had problems with a bad unit. Also Installed their hyperfuel in tank pump In the 50gal tank.

Bought an 02 Tahoe 5.3 4l60e with 4xx,xxx miles on it. Tore it down(was I great shape) rebuilt it with new rings bearings and gaskets.
Kept it sock and put in the suburban 07/2018.

I stalled Dakota digital analag/electric gauges.

Less than 1000 miles on it drove it bay area to reno 200miles then immediately to washington 650miles. Then 700miles home.

The burb has always had a rear end squat. So I installed 3" c20 drop spindles and it levels it out.

Did the Washington trip 4 more times since than no issues, even towed wires broken 96 honda odyssey van from Washington down to cali.

Truck runs great with the ls, the 4.10 gears I have are high but I like the ho72 rear end.

In town I get 13mpg, highway I get 18. Towing the van I got 17 and couldn't even feel it behind me with the ls.

I took it to hot August nights 2019, had a blast. My truck is now way close to show worth but still fun.

Installed 04 tahoe front seats and console

We sold the wife's minivan and I traded my lifted toyota 4runner for a68 impala wagon to be the wife's new vehicle, With a 454 th400.
Was missing a carb, battery, and few other parts. Had everything laying around. Installed it all and drove it around the block than the tranny lost all forward gears.

So now we are taking the 02 5.3 4l60 out of the suburban and installing it in to the wagon.

But dont worry. I bought an 01 6.0 and 4l80e that I'm putting a sloppy2 cam In and putting it in The burb with speed engineer's ls c10 swap long tube headers.
