I picked up this Burb from the Craigslist finds thread, thanks HO455! All I needed to do was get it home. The fella that is supposed to be moving all my truck and car stuff over a weekend is stuck in Alaska. The Burb has been sitting at the previous owners house for too long, I told him my dilemma. He offered to pull it over to my house, we live fairly close to each other. He uses a tow dolly and says there is no backing up with it.

He gets to my house and I need it out back temporarily until I get the rest of my stuff shifted around. I don't like having junkers sit outside at my house, especially out front. And I have zero room in my small shop. But sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. We unhooked it from the dolly and got a good rolling start, he steered and I pushed. I dunno if you ever noticed but when you need to lift or push something all of a sudden its bad back city for everyone but you haha. It came in just enough to be out of the street and I tossed a block under the tire. He loaded up and headed home. I really appreciated that he brought it over (I paid him).

There is no way to get to the back of our house in a car or a truck, but a riding lawn mower, no problem. Grabbed a chain, lawn mower to truck bumper, lawn mower just dug a hole. Turned the lawn mower sideways (more resistance?) and used it for an anchor. Chain from mower to come along to truck. No go.

Wife got home and I told her my dilemma. Cant pull it up. No place for a good hard anchor in my shop. No way I was going to use the nose of my truck to push it up, that never turns out well in my world. She said why don't you run a rope through the front of your shop, large door, out the man door to the truck. Use the truck from front of shop to pull the Burb up, you only have to go about six feet or so.

Dang, why didn't I think of that? Course I didn't have anything that long. My shop is 28 feet long, plus I needed extra to get from the tow ball of my truck to the bumper of the Burb. Went to Harbor Freight, got two 30 foot cables with eyes on both ends. Hooked em up and had my honey pull the Burb up using my truck with cable going through my shop haha! I gave her directions via the phone while I stood way outta the way of the cable, you know, Harbor Freight.

Here she sits. Dunno for how long. Just waiting for my regular flat bed tow guy to get home.

Sounds like my kind of problems lately , you got yours solved though . I needed to move a couple of trucks here at the Truck Farm and decided to use my trailer . It has rained here off and on for months but I had the trailer on the high side . I hooked it up , put truck in 4 wheel drive and spun til the trailer was jack knifed . Unhooked trailer and got my nephew to pull the truck out . Have not tried the trailer yet .The trucks will wait til dry weather .

I added an eye bolt to one of the posts in the barn, so that I can pull non running vehicles into the stall with the come-along.

That was a pretty solid addition for just such an emergency.

That's a very good idea and something I didn't think of at all when we put up my little shop. Right now Im clearing it out (again) and before I drag another car home Im going to do something like that.

Here is what I did so I could get stuff into the shop by myself. 4" "D" ring mounted in the floor with a cheap HF 2500# winch on it. Works good.

Edit: I forgot to mention the "D" ring is available at HF too.

I'm definitely going to use these ideas once the weather turns a little better. Probably should rename the thread how to get stuff in your shop with little to no extra hands and a cat. =)

The cable is actually wrapped around her tail, she just isn't pulling hard enough....

Maybe, but I'm pretty lazy myself.. I would challenge you to a contest but that requires a lot of thought and rules. I'll just forfeit, it's much easier.

I put a 1/2" anchor bolt at the front of my garage for the same purpose. It's under a steel stair railing so it won't get tripped over.
